Protected Items List for Enchanters

I was working on my Mage's enchanting, using one of Azyul's farming profiles, when I stepped away for a moment. I came back to see it had vendored all my dust and shards. So I went and added all the dust, shards, and essences to the protected items list for any enchanter's out there that has had the same thing happen to them.

I couldn't find this anywhere else, so I hope it helps whoever needs it.

Hi, Talton,

We believe you have substantially mis-analyzed your problem. Even if the Ayzul profile *tried* to sell your enchanting reagents, there is no vendor in the game that will buy them.

Believing we missed something fundamental in WoD, we went and double-checked this personally. Indeed, no vendor will buy these items. The only known ways to remove these enchanting reagents from your backpack are:
  • Consume them by creating an enchant (possibly on Vellium)
  • Place them on the Auction House to sell
  • Delete them
Thus, these items do not need to be on the Protected Items.xml list.

The only way we can think of to have these items removed from your backpack while unattended are:

  • You've an Honorbuddy plugin that is deleting the items
If this is the case, then you should configure the plugin properly. Plugins do not observe the Protected Items.xml list—indeed, many are written to explicitly 'work around' it.

  • You've a WoWclient addon that is deleting the items when you go to sell
Remove or correctly configure the misbehaving addon.

Thanks China,

I hadn't thought of that. I did find it odd that they were gone, but I saw him flying off from Dalaran, and that was the conclusion I came to. I'm not sure what it could have been then. If something is deleting them, I'll have to figure out what it is.

Thanks for your insight.
