I think it's a shame that people do not trust our trustworthy developers and they should be given the option to use DLLs on their CCs

The poll is showing up for me.

The main pro is that their code is protected, the con is that they could put anything in the code and you wouldn't know (like biological weapons :P).
 
where's the "doesnt matter to me either way" option?

What does a DLL give them? Make 'em post source to devs so THEY Compile it or smth...

What advantages does a DLL give? What can be done?

I thought you were trolling for a moment when I read this. What makes the people who post CCs here trustworthy? Part of the reason people feel they can trust them is because they know there won't be any hidden nasty code in the CC they download. As soon as .dlls are allowed anyone who wants to steal some accounts then has a reason to come here.

It's great if we can encourage developers here and make their job as easy as possible, but not at the cost of user security.

How do I change my result to HELL NO after doing more research? I would need to see a good argument on the advantages of using DLL's to be comfortable with it.

Do you use Instance Buddy?
 
In my opinion, yes, they should, assuming we have some sort of verification process pre-post, such as someone looking over the code and doing the compile and then posting the DLL for the creator, rather than the creator themselves posting.

No because I was brand new to WOW when I started botting. I have leveled 2 toons up to 60 and made about 1000g so far in the MONTHS that I have had HB. I find a vast majority of my difficulties in botting are due to me being unfamiliar with wow. I have a separate account I play legit on. I am a noob. It sucks really bad because when I started playing wow WOTLK had been out for a long time. I'm overwhelmed. Instance buddy looks fantastic I have to say, but I don't want to be a pain in the ass asking for help when I can learn so much more about the basics. If instance buddy could be improved via DLL usage then I am all for it. There are ways to have dev's submit the DLL to a mod who then makes sure it is legit, then the mod uploads it. Safety concern gone unless a mod goes rogue which I'm jk about. I work in IT.. I'm not worried of the security if the creator doesn't upload the DLL.


As a side note now that I'm sad about being a noob is there a HUGE poster or something with the WoW geography on it? I'm a level 72 on my legit account and still don't know SHIT. Everything changes before I can learn it. A wall poster map or even a regular PRINTED (I can use the web but I'd rather not while playing) map would make the game far more enjoyable to play and bot.

Maybe an idiots guide to WoW assuming you just started the game TODAY after Cataclysm and it was your first time ever playing? It really is way too overwhelming which is the only reason I just like it as opposed to really enjoy it.
 
I dont have a problem with it as long as the Devs check it first, and give it an ok.

They don't even have enough time to make HB stable for god sake! How the fuck do you think they are going to find the time to pre-check every CC that someone wants to release?

You're right, and with every update for a CC needing to be approved as well we could see a big delay between an HB update being released and working CCs coming out.
 
I just want to use dlls for 3rd party purposes..

Like having an msn controller although i can have a 3rd party exe interact with a plugin but why?

please bring dlls back.
 
We won't be allowing DLLs for a multitude of reasons.

The biggest of which, is that we can't ensure your account security with things being released as DLLs. (Someone can put malicious code in their DLL to steal your account data, which we don't want)

We also don't have the time to review each and every compile of every CC and plugin.

try out WoWWiki.com A great deal of useful information there. Here's a great map to give you a decent layout of the Zones and Lvls for each.

Yep, i must a agree with Apoc, its way to risky and the mods/devs intentions is not to get peoples accounts stolen.
 
I'll let you know right now their code wouldn't be protected... You could simply reflect it and get whatever you wanted out of it. It would just complicate things greatly to have them obfuscated or somehow protected (if it would even work that way). Then there's the matter of trust, where you couldn't be completely sure whether or not it was at all safe, and of course we couldn't just have a bunch of people compiling and confirming every DLL a developer throws out there.

Plus, what the hell is there to protect?! Obviously this is community-driven, meaning without the community, this bot would be nowhere near what it is right now. If one developer obviously "steals" a large portion of code, it's going to be pretty damn obvious what he/shit took.

Finally, it's a good idea for it to be open source in order to share ideas. Having one developer figure out an ingenious way to solve a problem should not be masked just because that developer wants to be the only one with the solution, that's just selfish.

That's all very nice and dandy, but as soon as people realise there is money to be made this concept vanishes.
Just look at IB, which was open source and got closed and obfuscated real quick..
Wouldn't surprise me if it will become a paid plugin soon'ish :)
