You hereby acknowledge and agree that:

A. WHEN RUNNING, THE GAME MAY MONITOR YOUR COMPUTER'S RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY (RAM) AND/OR CPU PROCESSES FOR UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS RUNNING CONCURRENTLY WITH WORLD OF WARCRAFT. AN "UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM" AS USED HEREIN SHALL BE DEFINED AS ANY THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE THAT, WHEN USED SIMULTANEOUSLY OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE GAME, WOULD CONSTITUTE A VIOLATION OF SECTIONS 1, 2 OR 9. IN THE EVENT THAT THE GAME DETECTS AN UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM, BLIZZARD MAY (a) COMMUNICATE INFORMATION BACK TO BLIZZARD, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE ACCOUNT NAME, DETAILS ABOUT THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM DETECTED, AND THE TIME AND DATE THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM WAS DETECTED; AND/OR (b) EXERCISE ANY OR ALL OF ITS RIGHTS UNDER THIS AGREEMENT OR THE EULA, WITH OR WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE TO THE USER.

However , on topic , I don't change the exe name and have only had a 72hr suspension once for selling gold , wasn't GB related since I didn't farm on that comp/IP/Account.

I do rename. But I fully understand that it makes no difference either way.

Its more for my peace of mind.

Only reason I rename mine is so I can tell which is which in my taskbar on Win 7.

i rename all of my hb/gb to my ign { in game name } so i know which one is which lol

except for GB.. it just says " jgwriu8erudfg " intead of Gatherbuddy or what i rename it

That sounds like an incredibly stupid idea.

Never renamed, and if they did scan Process names, then we would be getting banned left/right and would have it integrated into GB/HB.

i always rename it. i rather be safe than sorry. i have over 37 lvl 80s. and i would have to have my accounts ban. plus i rather rename it than not. cause if i do get ban i wouldnt have to wonder if the name got me caught.

am glad you made this post. this is a very interesting subject. i dont know if it matter but the peace of mind does.

As stated before, WARDEN doesn't read and send back anything from outside their process. However, I believe that the scan.dll is what scans all of our processes. But it doesn't send anything back. It's just there to warn us about keyloggers and it will keep wow from loading if there is a known Hack/Cheat running.

Atleast that is my understanding of the matter. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

From http://vforums.mmoglider.com/ comes also the Bullshit about Blizzard is scanning MAC?s

BTW the Text postet there is stoneold and copyed from another webseite.

I wouldn't rule out that they may be scanning MAC addresses. We know that they track IPs, and you can certainly get MAC addresses off the network if you have multiple PCs on a router for instance.

I did find the original post which was copy/pasted to the Glider forums. It's from 2005, and from what I understand (as Ski states above) Blizzard's supposedly no longer scanning outside of it's own processes. However, can we trust them to abide by their ToS? Who's to say that they don't take a "peek" at processes if someone is suspected of botting? How would we ever know?

If you run Cheat Engine before starting wow, wow will make a pop up message telling you that you have some kind of third party program who might lead to a ban if you login. O_o How come they know that if they don't scan my procress?

Kynox (from MMOwned) disproved this.

Read his blog for the actual proof.

that's not warden. it's a scan that happens prior to when you log-into wow. it checks the process names, but doesn't send any info back to Blizz. they don't wanna piss off the wrong person by banning some1 because their AIM came up as a third party program..

I hope they search all my processes, I only have 100 of them going with all my open apps. I should create a porn process for them too. Maybe that will give them something else to do besides sniff around on my computers.

Morga

I feel the same way, but I still rename all of the HB/GB to winamp.exe and I can say without a doubt that also having them run off a seperate harddrive is recommended. I know you say it doesnt matter but imo it does. My friend came and stayed with me for a few days while he was driving through on his cross country road trip and during this time he wanted to try out hb/gb so he put it on his laptop, from my IP on the router, didnt rename anything, and within 7 hrs was suspended for 72 hrs for botting. I find that proof enough for me. After the 72 hrs he put hb/gb on his external hdd, renamed them and hasnt had a problem since.
