I'm trying to use RINGERx2 to powerlevel pets, it works well in Pandaria to powerlevel 10-15+ but anything lower gets killed. Would it be better to powerlevel the level 5's in Outlands with level 15-17 ringers or is there a better way to do this currently?
The math aside, ringer x2 works well in zuldrak, and outland/bc.
Keeping the half a level rule, for 5's, 11/12 areas are better, but, speed is better than player xp and, getting pets to 12 ish, makes things generally easier
So, using 2 25's and a level 1, I just manually switch pets as soon as possible and hope pet 2 doesn't swap back. In northrend, its easier.
In most cases, I just push all the pets I have to 7 or 8 asap, via pandaria, and use questing to level the 8 to 18 gap on alts.
I usually set pb & bps to level with capture on lvl 5-15 pets, while questing, as it boosts levelling xp, and breaks quest paths.
However 1-15 is ek & kalimdor.
So, alongside questing in 30-70,
archaeology 1-450, I can't imagine there's many reasons to stay in vanilla to level pets, when northrend is smaller, and has more reasons to be there, or to camp areas, i.e. farming the valkyr.
As for gb2 and pb gathering, etc. right now, everything works, with the exception of the crippled HB for German users, which requires a 3rd party bot to navigate from location to location.
A number of new alternatives exist, but they require testing. if they are gb2 profile compatible, they should be fine to use with petarea, battle pet collector, pokehbuddy or other farming/navigation plugins.
if gb2 is removed from HB, or replaced... and that may be a long time from now, there will perhaps be a need for a new gathering and navigation bot, and PB will probably not have to change at all to support it.
The third potential option is, if you're using gatherbuddy2 profiles, they may have to change. Which will affect petarea and battle pet collector plugin users.
Since GB2 is perhaps taking the brunt of the issues in detection (and not navigation or unstuck behavior) , farming pets puts a spotlight onto a conflict of interests, player xp vs collection & levelling pet collections.
To explain, if the ban comes from repeated use of the same locations, every profile used is a potential trigger for detection. using a default profile, repeating the same movement, etc. Relying on a profile to gather, using petarea and BPC are possibilities for detection at the moment, simply because there's no other options.
if GB2 is going to trigger bot detection, then any gb2 detection method, such as LCP is going to trigger if players repeat the same precise navigation of an area.
luckily, petarea & bpc nodes are really sparse, so the area they cover is often broken up by navigation to kill mobs, gather herbs/ ore, and attack/ battle critters, etc. the likelihood of repeating the same precise pathing is unlikely, but currently not impossible, and the same fear applies for quests and dailies, anything with default navigation.
Afaik, the goal of gb2 replacement is to shuffle the travel around or to make the gathering seem lazy, stupid and thus, human, to take detours, fight battles with elites, go the wrong way, etc.
and whatever replaces gb2 will more than likely reset nodes, and therefore, profiles. Current GB2 replacements add Random gathering, taking detours, and breaking out of gather paths, which will help in the future to mimic player action, but it will be an issue for a long time to come.
Definitely something for later thought.
