Permabanned chars are still 'active' in Gyms

I'm not sure if this is relevant but I figured I would share it with you guys anyways.

I had one of my 30+ accounts banned yesterday ("Failed to get game data from server"). According to most sources this means I'm permabanned. Shit happens.

PLEASE NOTE: I was not banned because of Pokefarmer!

However, now the interesting part: The banned account had a Pokemon in the Gym next door, a CP 25xx Dragonite. Now I can't log in to the account anymore since yesterday (always getting the failed to load data error), but the account and it's Dragonite are still in the Gym and fighting. We tested training as well as batteling with other team accounts, the "permabanned" account is still active in terms of automated arena fighting.

I guess this means they are not deleting our accounts, the chars still exist, a "permaban" only means they're somehow restricting the client from connecting to banned accounts.

Any thoughts?

Exactly the same thing happend to me.

Yeah not sure about the not deleted thing. My account got banned (failed to load data error) but my pokemons were still in the gym. Now here comes the wierd part, I was able to change the nickname of another account to that of the banned one. Not really sure what that means though

Mine are still in gyms and getting failed to get game data but I cannot use their names on new accounts.
