YouTube - Windows 7 Program Lag

Long story short: I get a problem, a black screen of lag when trying to open programs, or program lagging in general, usually after playing heavy RAM usage games like League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, and World of Warcraft.

The easy fix to this as I have seen is to restart my computer, and it will go away until I play more games like stated above. I have re-installed Windows 7, my CPU usage is normal at the time, my computer is clean, Windows Event Viewer is clean, basically nothing seems out of the ordinary except what you see in the video and higher than usual lag in games. This is not caused by internet connection (30 MB/s dl, 5 upload)... I honestly think it's hardware considering I have reformatted my computer and the problem has persisted, even without the heavy programs at times. It's mainly at random though. I have posted on Microsoft support forums, none of them seem to know, same thing on hardware forums, etc etc. Hoping you guys can help me a bit more, and hopefully I've outlined everything I've tried already. Few people say hard drive but I find it unlikely mainly because I'm running to Raptors @ RAID0.

Here are my system specs:
OS: Windows 7 (64-bit)
CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) 9950 Quad-Core Processor (3.2GHz)

Memory: 8190GB RAM DDR2

Hard Drive: RAID0 (150 GB Velociraptor x2)
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 5970 2GB

Monitor: ACER P244W (Analog - 22" HDMI S


I'm so desperate with this problem... >_> It's annoying as hell to have to restart my computer 10 times a day.
 
disable UAC

control panel --> user accounts and family safety --> User Accounts --> Change User Account Control settings (last one in list) --> never notify --> ok. restart!

I used to have this same prob and Kickazz006 solution worked quite fine for me, never had probs again!
 
Alright... I guess this can solve the problem but is it the root of the problem? UAC works fine most of the time and lags only sometimes..
I guess I'll try this out and see if it solves the problem altogether anyway. I thought about this solution, just never thought it would be a full fix. Thanks a lot.

if it doesn't, then you have a lot bigger issues ;)
 
I guess I have bigger issues then. UAC wasn't the only thing that was lagging like that, the same effect happened when alt tabbing games, etc etc. Windows would like lag, go into the default theme, lag again, and go into the regular theme again... Weird stuff.
 
my old desktop was doing this in the past to but it was Vista...

It came out to be one of my pieces of ram went to crap and since I had 4 sticks of ram which operated in a DIMM1+DIMM3/DIMM2+DIMM4 model it effectively made the other piece of ram useless...
Reason why this issue wasn't apparent was windows was thinking the ram was ok, mem leak tests showed everything fine but my performance went to junk. I had even replaced the HDD as I thought maybe that was causing all the issues.
Long story short I grabbed so lower grade ram and placed it in all 4 slots and it worked better.

How is your ram configed? is it 4x2gb's or 2x4 gb's
 
Ooo, I always thought it was the hardware.
It's 4 sticks of 2 GB RAM... But if it's the RAM, why does it fix itself with a restart? xD
 
it clears out when it restarts(in another words you could have a mem leak on your ram and for some reason it is not clearing out when the program shuts down)
ram is a type of memory that is changed/written/rewritten etc as long as power is applied to it. As soon as power is cut from the ram it loses all of it's "memory" which gives your ram a clean slate to start from.
It could also be a program refusing to shut down properly when you close it and causing a mem leak onto the ram and it is taking all of your memory resources which in turn is ruining your performance.

But you have said you have reformated and still same issues so most likely it is hardware related

open your case up and remove 2 pieces of ram. Before doing so look at your user manual to verify how your ram runs on your mobo
my mobo is like this

slot1-DIMM1
slot2-DIMM2
slot3-DIMM3
slot4-DIMM4

easy so far right now here is where the manual comes into play. Some mobos ram pairings are dimm1+2/dimm3+4 my mobo however is dimm1+3/dimm2+4
this is very important if you do not find how your mobo channels it's ram hardware and lets say u leave a piece in each channel instead of proper pairing(what i was mentioning above) it is going to make it hard to figure out which ram is messed up.

The other option would be to take all ram out and test each piece in slot 1 till u find the one that makes your comp laggy as hell

My first question is the following. it is a host-raid or a software-raid? second question. the cl-timings in the bios correctly identified, or been set? and the third question. are set in the Windows swap file? if so, then disable them.
 
Uh... I know my mobo is set up with 1 in the first slot of each color. 1 and 3, and 2 and 4, like yours I believe. Second, all I know is I RAID0ed using my motherboard's BIOS, I'm not sure what cl-timings are, but it has been working fine for a while with nothing changed, and finally what is a Windows swap file? Thanks. I'll definitely test each stick of ram.
 
Alright well after testing each memory stick individually they seemed to do fine. The first one I tested had a very long shut down, that was the only abnormality. The 2nd and 3rd memory sticks had short black screens when alt tabbing or starting certain programs, but not like the long black screens I had. The 4th had a slightly longer black screen than the 2nd and 3rd ones. Not sure which one was at fault here.

The way I tested it was individually in the first slot of my mobo.

when they say to test the ram, it's from the bios

and a windows swap (file) is virtual memory where windows writes "memory" to a file on the hard drive (hdd)
 
Can you elaborate more on how to test the ram? Usually from experience if it's a bad stick of ram you'd get beeps from your mother board or Windows would not boot, etc etc.
 
maybe u can go into the bios and check the ram voltage...maybe they r undervolt ?
 
I checked don't think I found anything for RAM testing. What I did was I went ahead and downloaded Memtest86, created a CD and booted from it and ran all the tests... 0 errors... Does that mean it's not the RAM? >_>
 
Could it be his pc is acting up because of heating problems?
