Paid Quality Profiles and/or Open Source Profiles

I think I shall. I'm in the process of trying out a couple of wiki platforms and getting the initial stuff set up. I'll post in the forums when I have something further to show.

Let me know if you need any help, I'll lend a hand! Sounds like a damn good idea. :)

Great Idea Tombstone,

I would LOVE to contribute to something like that. I am running DeltaSniper's profiles, and they are super awesome. The only thing I could contribute is some more hotspots to make the bot appear less bottish - but I don't want to come across as a jackass and just reply with 'please add these hotspots'. Same goes for adding things like 'Healthstone' to the protected list.

If what you are saying could work - I'd be very keen. Having said that, I think there are many good profiles already. Like I mentioned, Delta's rehash of Biiks is really good.

Oh - and one more comment to add. This one is directed at general public.

If you find a certain need, something that is lacking. Instead of asking for 'profile store' or asking to buy profiles from other people - make one. Fill the need. Share it with the community.
You'll get rep and you will improve the product. Everybody wins.

Also, don't get too discouraged with the gold farmers, they already have 'private' profiles. How did they get it? They did it themselves. They aren't going to use yours. They have no need for it. Nobody is making money 'off your hard work'

Awesome! Excited to hear that people are already getting on board!

Here's the wiki URL:

All I have set up so far is the initial wiki framework. Over the next couple of days I will be polishing and improving it and getting the starter profiles in place.

Mdurner11, Samlock, and Tordens, once you sign up for a wiki account, I will make you assistant admins.

Does anyone have any starter profiles they would like to donate?

Signed up (Yeah I know I should be sleeping, but sometimes I'm noctournal).

I'll maybe throw up a profile tonight just to mess around with it / the wiki. I'm going camping tomorrow so I may not have time to get some serious uploading.

We shall see! Also, please contact me via MSN or PM so I can swap emails with you tombstone, and the other admins as well if we would like to get this going pretty smoothly / seriously.

Lol..... Just try it out, im interested in sharing some of my work if i see a decent system inplace. At the moment there is a massive demand.

So what's the word on panyama, is he a decent profile maker?

He sent me a list of his previous works and it looks like he has never made a grinding profile at all.

This is not the thread for discussing panyama and/or his abilities as a profile maker. In addition, Tony closed the other thread because it was getting too personal.

I feel these profile part of the forums should be hidden from non members (people who havent Bought HB) as in they should not be able to download profiles ect for extra safety?

Personally; I've never been a fan of '1-60' profiles.

I'd much rather have a folder of 50 different files, for a bunch of level ranges, using a bunch of different areas. The bot can simply pick and choose the 'closest' or best profile to use from that list.

IMO, someone just needs to merge all the 'profiles' into a giant profile, with tons and tons of subprofiles that are properly written.

Oh wait... that makes no sense... it just does exactly what is already out there!

Sorry, but I doubt the developers have enough time to maintain Honorbuddy, Gatherbuddy, new 'quest' features, outstanding bugs, user errors, and a plethora of other things that are being constantly complained about. As I've said before, once the community decides to start being a community, you'll see higher quality profiles emerging. Unfortunately; the profile creation is currently lacking any easy to use tools. (Mine works, if you only want to grind) I've been pushing hard to get people off their ass and start creating their own content. Too many people are still stuck in the "glider had 2938402948 profiles, why can't I just use those?!" era. Glider's profiles took YEARS to stack up to the sheer amount that it has/had. Honorbuddy uses a completely different system for profiles, which means people need to put in a little work.

Also, questing isn't something available in most bots. I know of 2 that implement it publicly, and a very small handful of private bots. Not a single one of them has the flexibility of Honorbuddy.

Instead of complaining about a lack of stuff, why don't you put in some time, and do something to change it.

Here's what you pay for:

  • A near bugless gather bot. (Gatherbuddy)
  • A constantly evolving, and very complex 'all around' bot. (Honorbuddy)
  • Top notch Warden protection.
  • Questing features.
  • Mostly automated botting experience. (There's really not much you have to do to make HB 'go')
  • More features than nearly any bot has ever given.
  • An incredibly robust API that allows 'users' to create their OWN CONTENT to customize the bot how they want.
  • Battleground support
  • Semi-instance support. (Meshes are there, no current instance bots. Those are soon to come though)
  • Incredibly flexible profiling system. (Face it, you can create simple 'grind here' profiles, or incredibly complex questing profiles that handle grinding, questing, battlegrounds, RAF, etc, all in one.)
  • Very good 'tech support'. If you have an issue; it's addressed fairly quickly. (Aside from a few bugs in the bot which are hard to iron out.)
  • A whole host of other features, both current, and in development.

Now, you paid 80eur for all of that. (Assuming a lifetime sub)

You tell me, how much is that ACTUALLY worth?

I understand you guys are frustrated that you "paid for a bot that doesn't have all the default trimmings", when in fact it does. Questing is still in beta, so none of you have room to be complaining about lack of profiles. If there aren't enough, simply go back to grinding/BGs. Or make your own.

The developers, and other staff members, can't just drop everything to appease you guys every time you have one little thing to complain about, there are much more important things to be doing most of the time. Sure, they'll usually help you with little issues, and sometimes bigger ones. But you can't expect them to do absolutely everything, with a product that can't possibly please everyone.

At any rate; I think having a community effort on a 'single pack' of profiles is both good, and bad.
1) It's a single profile set. This brings you back to the times when Glider was seeing bans from people using the same profiles.
2) There won't be much innovation, or use of any other profiles, if everyone has the exact same set of profiles.

What he said.

Because of the limitations to HB, (not being able to take the tram from SW to IF) I will never be able to make a 1-60.

I will be working on some profiles soon because i actually quite enjoy doing them. And the honorbuddy system makes making them now much more simple than the old way with meshes. I genuinely think i could write a 1-60 profile in like 4/5 hours, its easy if you know the game relatively well.

Simply put. If you don't like the profiles available. Write your own. Its not hard. If you can't write your own... Don't complain about other peoples..... Who are you to complain when your unable to help yourself at all in the first place. People like you make me honestly consider keeping my own profiles private.

Because of the limitations to HB, (not being able to take the tram from SW to IF) I will never be able to make a 1-60.

Apoc, in order to make profiles being flawless we need to have FP usage while navigating, Tram(I have no idea how can you do this but if you have both FP should be easier) and Boat(This could be done with the help of the NPC's inside of them) support.

Imagine all the work that people need to have in order to make a 1-60 profile today, and then on the next release questing supports another quest type, all the work that people has done has to be redone.

To be honest I see this forum becoming a business instead of a community.

If Devs dont have time to develop new features why don't they recruit new devs? I see that there are loads of people here with enough skills, I woulnd't mind having to pay a monthly subscription if we had a profile team or more devs, and such things as that.

Questing has been here for 3 months and it's impossible to make a 1-60 profile leveling only by quests.

All the ambition, ideas and hope is being forgotten.

Tbh, I agree with the original poster. If for example you buy software for creating audio files, there are always sound packs you can buy afterwards, but the original software comes with a default, pretty good sound pack. You wouldn't expect to buy the software and read "Oh btw, there aren't any sound files in the program. If you want to use it make your own". I don't want to keep making my own. I want a bot that does what it says it can do when I buy it with atleast some good default profiles.

So with these not existing, we turn to public profiles. That's great, until another version of the bot comes out which breaks them and the CCs. How can you expect people to put shit loads of effort into helping your bot do what it's supposed to do anyway if you're going to keep making their efforts obsolete? And if you want the profiles/ccs 100% community driven, you need to keep that community happy and reward them for their efforts. All developers get for putting free time into supporting your bot is +rep that doesn't work, a load of hassle from your customers (not theirs) and the guarantee that in a few weeks it won't work anyway.

In response to Apocs rant: 80 euros is actually a lot for the bot. At the end of the day, it's software that took a team of maybe 4 people to create? I may be wrong, it might be more like 8. You can buy a lot of other software for less than that which took an entire team of developers to make, works exactly like it was designed to, updates only when things are needed and won't corrupt the entire previous versions and has 24/7 live chat support.

MaiN is the cream of this bot. His navigation system is absolutly fantastic and is pretty much the only thing that gets people to pay 80 euros. The work Hawker is putting in is superb aswel. You can't even compare them to the guy in charge of finance who does everything via PM but leaves his inbox full, or the forum mod that posts 3 word answers to everything.

To all you ranters and complainers

lets put this simple and easy to read.

Put yourself in their shoes...

they're working hard enough so stop complaining about the bot

to people that want paid profilse.. simply

Put yourself in their shoes

Once their profile gets sent to you, you might be tempted to share it with a friend. the chain goes on and on...

i know i won't be releasing mine for sure . . .
