Ouch...got banned today. Question.

So I found out I got banned today and this is the email Blizzard sent me. Apparently they've banned me for exchanging in-game property for real-world currency. However, this is impossible because I'm not a gold seller. I transfer gold between my characters on the same account and I believe that is not against Blizzard's policy.

So my question is do people get this email with the same reason (selling gold) when they are banned for botting? Or is this a mistake on Blizzard's part?

Also...does anyone know how many times do you have to get caught before getting that permanent ban?

Account Name: *********

Account Action: 72 Hour Suspension
Reason for Action: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy

This suspension happened because one or more characters on the account were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for "real-world" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy.

Even if this behavior is the result of a third party accessing the account instead of the registered user (for example, a friend, family member, or leveling service) then the account can still be held responsible for the penalty because of the impact it had on the game environment.

We've found the above behavior is many times directly related to groups responsible for compromising World of Warcraft accounts; we take these issues very seriously. To better understand our position against exploitative activity and the risks involved, please review this article: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/antigold.html

The exploitative activity that took place on this account violates the World of Warcraft Terms of Use. We ask you take a moment to review these terms at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html. Note that additional Terms of Use violations may result in more severe actions against this account, up to and including permanent closure.

For any disputes of this action, please visit the Exploitative Activity FAQ and Contact page here: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/exploitfaq

next time will be perm ban for you :)

also you must've done something, or did something wrong, because all 5 of my accounts are still up and running after this so called "ban-weave".
You are botting, thats enough of a reason to ban you. end of story. live with it, or stop botting :)

Well, of course if they ban me for botting I have nothing to say. I just don't want to get banned for something I did not do. You wouldn't wanna get a ticket for drunk driving when all you did was not wearing the seat belt would you, lol.

in the eula, that you agreed to, blizzard can ban you for anything, even without reason. just bad luck thats all, make a new account and start again :) nothing you can do.
or contact their helpdesk and ask for more information seeing you did nothing wrong and it must be a false positive.

A suspension is not a ban, and you mostly got flagged by an automated system, there can be much reasons for.

too much played, too much farmed, too much online in just 1 zone, and so on

its an SUSPENSION not an ban .... because blizzard does not ban/suspend one by one, they flag over weeks / months, and do then bulk on one day

mostly friday morning or after maintenanince, or whatever they think its a good time

So...is there anything I can/should do? Or just wait for fate?

these bans are so weird... luckly, you got a 72 like most other people, but thats your last strike, i have not been banned since the lua ninja ban wave. lucky me :D

i have been offline for a few days started back up again tonight, and decided to check this site , the amount of suspensions and bans seems to be up from he norm.

if you wanna lower the chances of being suspended/banned: Bot the way a real player would play, or as close to it as you can get.

1: do not bot 24/7
2: do not post too much stuff on AH all at once
3: do a few quests

hope it works out for you.
unless you are botting on my server and undercutting my AH prices. = P

Missed banwave if there even was one. Been botting for 28hours straight minus the time to time I buy new armor and do a few quests. but still going strong

I decided to contact Blizzard and guess what, after they checked that my account was not involved in gold selling/buying they admit it was a mistake.

And my account was flagged because it was switching between a China-based IP and a US-based one (they actually slap on another 3-day suspension for account sharing). I gave them an explanation for this as well.

So it has nothing to do with botting at all. They lifted all suspensions and my account is restored as of now.

Well I use VPN service to get around China's government firewall, sometimes I leave the VPN running and fire up WoW.
