Official statement as to why the old HB was discontinued?

This partially addresses the developer team, but also the thread is meant as a place where customers can come to issue some feedback regarding the new HB and the fact that the old version is being discontinued as of WoW version 4.2.

The central question I am asking myself is:

Why are you discontinuing to update the offsets on our beloved old HB version?

We have yet to receive an official statement. Considering the speed at which you usually update the offsets, the extra work can't be the only issue here.

So I'm wondering if you are trying to get a wide beta tester base for your not-even-beta HB release with the new and de-/exproved GUI.

HB was a wonderful thing until yesterday. There was a huge amount of user created profiles (<3 Kick), CustomClasses, PlugIns, a community written Relogger and most functions were working as expected.

Today very few of the questing profiles are usable at all, some of the PlugIns need updating (the least of problems), a lot of users are complaining about the lack of a relogger, some CustomClasses make HB crash and first and foremost a central function (skinning) is missing altogether. Additionally a lot of users have argued that the new UI, while looking better, has a structure that is too complex, requiring more clicks for essential buttons and checkboxes to be reached.

I myself am also experiencing a lot more stability issues with HB hogging more memory than would seem necessary, going out of sync at random and WoW spontaneously crashing.

Now, why oh why would you risk the excellent reputation of this bot and throw what seems like an alpha version at the customers, when it requires so little work to just have the old version run parallel to the new one for a while longer?

I assume that there will be no reaction whatsoever from any of the developers and consider myself quite lucky if I don't end up with a ban for addressing you directly. Either way I will be waiting until tomorrow for an official response regarding your decision. Should I not receive one, I will see myself forced to give potential customers some feedback as to what is going on with the HB developement and what customer care really means in Bossland's world which will affect your sales for a while I hate to do this, but since there is absolutely no reaction to user complaints so far and not even a deadline as to when the issues will be addressed. Some users, including me, have even offered donating towards the upkeep of the old HB.

Now I hope you realize I am not the kind of constantly nagging bitching person who wants to be spoonfed with working profiles, classes, reloggers etc. If there are flaws, it comes with the territory of botting and I've always accepted that you have limited power over updating and improving this once excellent program. When my Rift accounts received perma bans, I considered it my risk and didn't have a single word of criticism slip from my fingers into the keyboard.
Your most recent move though just makes no sense whatsoever to me. Maybe it's just that you're too proud to admit you're going the wrong way with the new version? Why are you forcing it on your paying customers when it's so damn obvious that it is still majorly flawed?

While I agree with you, I simply do not have the energy to bitch and request anymore (not saying you are). I agree that making a new UI when it wasn't needed wasn't thought through and just made the bot un-stable. I really just want a stable working version at the moment, top of my wish list.

Exactly, while it might not entirely seem that way to you, we are exactly on the same line here and I'll assume most other users are as well. That's all I long for and it seems especially devastating that this wish isn't granted when just a day ago we had just that: A working version of HB, that was now taken from us, by the very people who worked months/years for it to become so stable. I'd even be willing to pay for it with the little money I have!

Hmm, I found the version that came after 4620 also not stable and reverted to 4620 directly after, and since then I've only been using it. This tells me the current version is still not stable..?

So basically I can't bot anymore?

:(

I'm in EU so patchday is today and I'm still at work so I did not find out for myself yet till tonight probably...

Not with the stability you are used to. The new bot does work, but you might have to change to another (inferior?) CC, live without ready-to-use questing profiles and should quickly drop skinning for another prof because there's no ETA on when it will be fixed.

I agree. I recommend that full attention should be given to HB's actual code and not the looks. I hope they'll see this and start making this version stable. I'm not saying they already aren't working on it but there's no way for us to know when we're left without a statement.

How's PvP bot and gatherbuddy doing?

Just started it now, for me working atm normally (but as i said, just started it minute ago).
Edit: PvP Bot seem to working slower (much slower imo).

And about interface... WTF?! i need click like 2x more when i want to setup something, that just totally sux....

Skinning is available. The options screen has a scrollbar on the right hand side.

I really don't care if I need to click once or twice more, if its stable. I am helped for now if gatherbuddy and pvp'ing works stable, still I agree that all functions should work correctly and be stable...

I guess I'll just wait and see for myself. Tonight.

Plus more windows -> More taskbar items -> More confusion. Some folks are running 12 sessions at a time. I personally have a prog attached that will show me process id's and bring any WoW instance + HB window to the foreground by toon name, but I pity the folks that don't. :D

I agree. It's already doing the work for you ingame, 2-3more clicks in settings I think is acceptable.

One thing I don't like though (don't remember how it was back in the days) is the loading...takes years to load and save settings.

Shutup plugin works for any of you?
Can't load it and thats just not acceptable...

I agree as well, I would rather have a stable release as a number one priority, followed by ease of use, and then by the looks.

Honestly, I don't care much for the new gui looks, and even less for the shuffle of the settings to strange places...but...as annoying as it may be to set everything up again, once set up, it's hardly an issue...and how often do you really change the settings...though, i do have to say I mess with my plugins quite a bit sometimes.

But it's the instability that really takes the trophy of the #1 annoyance. Things crashing left and right, CCs, profiles, etc no longer working and/or compiling.

Being a programmer and having quite a few releases myself...I can tell from experience that if we tried to deliver this type of product to our users, we would lose the contract...or at the very least be forced to roll back to the older stable version.

I've never used HB1, so for me, it's a non issue. However, I have to say that I must agree on the GUI issue. The new interface is much less intuitive than the old one, much more complicated to use, and simply wasn't the direction we needed to go in.

I haven't tried much of anything since GB2 since the patch so I can't really comment on the remaining HB functions. The little bit that I did run quest bot it did seem to be working ok. I'll mess around with that some and see how it goes today.

Mmm, seems like we are all on the same page, yet no comment from the devs so far. There must be some reason why this was "pushed" (to avoid using the word "forced") on us. I'm just puzzled.

I've noticed that in VM's it does take longer to open up config/options due to the new GUI. Also noticed the game does crash a lot more if I change profiles and zones before hitting start or something, if I get disconnected that means the bot will have to be restarted cause it will throw invalid session right away.. little annoying things but what can ya do.

Not sure if that mem leak is all the way gone either

All i can say is i have saw alot of these thread's opened in the past and nothing has stopped the downfall and decay of HB.
