[OFFICIAL] Second Update on Banwave of June 16 2011

There were 2 patches in the last 24 hours so we can't do a new release today. I have the bot running and unlike with the trial accounts I used in the last week I am no longer getting bans so things are looking good.

When we do our new release, we are suggesting that it be used with trial accounts only as we still do not know exactly what caused the banwave. The shop will remain shut while we get confirmation that our security issue has been dealt with.

Expect a release tomorrow or Sunday. We will have some quests working but there will be a lot of profile making work to be done over the next few weeks :p

UPDATE 25 JUNE: Rift patched overnight. Third patch in 3 days. We will definitely not be ready for a release today but unless they patch again in next 24 hours we look good for tomorrow.

UPDATE 26 JUNE: This last patch has slowed us and we can't release today.

Our logic is to get questing working so that Trion has far less player reports in the first place and then the adaptations we have made should prevent server side detection of the bot. We have grinding working and are testing on live accounts but we are not going to release if the accounts are banned in the first 24 hours.

I know you guys are anxious to help and want to test as well. Thanks but we have to take the risks ourselves at this stage. I'll post back tomorrow.

Hawker, if I used the new bot on a trial account or even a second purchased account, do you know if Trion have been banning other accounts (never botted on) from the same address?

I don't care how many trial/second accounts I lose but don't want to lose my main one.....which will never be botted on

This is my concern too, what if they start banning every accounts that log on with the same computer?
 
my only concern is, im guessing Trion as access to these forums, therefore know your doing a new version, they know your only running the bot on trials, and therefore will wait for a few weeks into release to then do a mass ban again.

I used to play a game where this tactic was used, no use banning trial accounts if they can only go to 15, best wait till they can get a large number all at the same time.

seems like an efficient way of banning botters;
 
Just for kicks I would perma ban anyone with the IP range from Trion's offices lol - make them work as hard as we do if they want us. ;)
 
I think I share the same opinion of a few people here; you don't know why we were caught so use a bot on a trial account until we figure it out? I don't mean to be rude or anything but I hope our keys are being extended until you find out why you were caught.

I know you want to be all secret and stuff about detection but it would help to have a bit of reassurance that things are going smoothly instead of just making trial accounts and hoping for the best because, let's face it, if Trion have any smarts then they'd ignore you until they get us all back then boot us all out again.

A little reassurance would go a long way here.
 
its been said that all keys are on hold until bot is released again(being sold not tested on trials(thats more of an open beta))
 
yes the keys are being extended for the downtime - how much time is up to Hawker / Boss
 
There will never be the reassurance you want. How can you expect that. lol. Its a bot and eventually it will get detected again and you will be banned again. If anyone guarantees anything theyre lying.

Trion can easily afford a vpn service, but a general rule of thumb is that unless they are spamming or trying to use a cracked version (or make a cracked version) - then we don't intervene.

Now, I'm sure Trion doesn't post here either - but only watches and in that case - I wouldn't know where to look (i'm sure hawk could view it by ip addr and track locations, but thats a pita w/ the amount of ppl that view the site)

Word! I know that costs a bit but please test it with "real" accounts!
