New Interface

I realise there are probably 1000 threads like this already (which in itself speaks volumes) but for some reason when i search on this site, it doesn't produce any results - it just looks all messed up.

Anyway....I just wondered if there are any plans on giving us the option to have the old GUI back ? No offence or anything but the new UI is the most amateurish, poorly designed UI i've ever seen on any piece of commercial software. It makes me want to rip my eyes out.

there wont be an option for the old GUI

but we will have some fixes and changes on the new one in order to make it better

I understand your frustration with the new interface, and agree with many on its problems:

• Too many clicks to do frequently used tasks
• The 'settings' of the popup window sizes is inappropriately sized
• The 'advanced' checkbox in the settings is completely unnecessary
• It went from looking 'professional' to a kid with a crayon designed it
  Many people welcome the darker colors; however, this doesn't mask the 'crayon' effect very well.
• All the helpful screenshots in the documentation are now worthless (e.g., Honorbuddy Guides forum and the Wiki)
• etc

However, we also must understand that the change was made for solid technical and marketing reasons:

• Internationalization: WPF is more conducive to internationalization than Windoze Forms-based UIs
• Theming (although not currently present) is now enabled.
  Thus, those liking light colors can go with light colors, and similarly for dark colors.

In short, it wasn't just a change of decoration or scenery. Now that the foundation is in place, its just a matter of time for the theming to mature, and the internationalization to arrive.

The HBdev team has clearly stated that "they won't be going back", so we need to get over any thoughts of such. Once it matures a little more, we should have the capability to "theme it back" similar to what it used to be. It will just take a little time.
