My shaman keeps auto attacking

My shaman has been just smacking things with her hammer. I tried making a new shaman and she did fine until I got to level 10 and picked enhance to level with. since then, she'll drop a totem, lightning bolt something then just start hitting hit. I went on my horde shaman thats elemental and she was doing fine. So I made a new shaman and she did the exact same thing. So it seems like it's an issue with the talent tree spec. Any help?
