one thing that's confused me for a while, if AB can run on the same PC with multiple instances without the need for a VM then why use a VM?

my archebuddy PC is separate to my main PC so I use one VPN and run 1-2 clients on the same PC. no VM.

since AB changes HWIDs i don't think there's any reason to use VM for me right?

Some people do, some dont.
I use 3 accounts, 2 on same PC(one VM one on host) and one on a laptop.
No VPN, not been banned since launch.

with a vm you can sandbox the resource allocated to the game. So you can have 1 laggy client in vm, and 1 non laggy out of vm, instead of 2 slightly less laggy for instance. (depending on your bottleneck obviously).

Its also easier to handle annoying crash / freeze when a plugin end up stuck in memory due to client crash (only way to force stop those is to stop AB, if you have 3 clients on 1 ab, closing all 3 is annoying, with a vm you can separate them)

using archbuddy account manager you just add 2 accounts and start them from here

Well there are a few reasons. Using a VM for running multiple clients allows you to reduce the resources that each Archeage client will use, freeing up more resources for your main client. Second, using a VM allows you to use a proxy so that your main account IP is different then your VM accounts, kind of important if you don't want all your accounts banned. And finally, It impresses people when you say you are running 4 Archeage accounts, three of them via proxy on multiple virtual machines.

I thought ArcheBuddy allowed you to use Socks5 proxy for this w/o having to use VM?
