So this is just a hypothetical thread, geared towards people looking to expand into botting many accounts. What do you think is the most cost effective computer for running WOW/HB? (Meaning a $500 computer that can run 4 instances, or a $1000 computer that can run 25?) Be specific :P
Personally I have a cheap $500 comp from Newegg that runs 5 instances of wow on low with no problems.

a machine with an amd a6 apu can do about 4 sessions of wow and hb, you can pickup or build a machine pretty cheap, to with that chip.

I built a machine earlier for ~$1100 that could run a fairly large set of HB bots. Guesstimating 15 without testing it. Could probably push more if you set your settings and resolution to the lowest. I think you need some scripts to pull that off, it was mentioned in another thread.

Search for "beast machine"

However your question answers itself.

$500/4 bots = $125 per bot.

$1000/25 bots = $40 per bot.

Not even contestable, if you plan on running bot farms getting stronger hardware makes sense.

Maybe get a server board, or a motherboard with Duel CPU slots.

there is no grafic card needed, if you run it on vm's. and a well rounded serverboard can hold some vm's
Even though the CPU can emulate the GPU as such, its probably not any better or cheaper than running a normal MB/CPU and a GPU.
Just my thoughts, my OC'd 4.2ghz i5 (Quadcore) runs 4 bots wow/HB at around 80-90% CPU but my GPU is only at 17% usage (6950 1GB)
I'd recommend getting a good i7 with 6 cores and threads with an average GPU.

There's something wrong with your computer then.
I'm running 3 WoW's with a 2006 Quad Core and it's running fine, CPU at 40%.

Perhaps, task manager shows all my wows running 19-20% CPU Usage
What are yours running at? Might I add thats not min reso its 720x526 as I need to be able to take over quickly in mixed mode as it constantly stuffs up

My 3 WoW's are at 320 resolution, and my CPU is at 40% now, but RAM is at 90%, only 3GB though, because I'm using Windows 7 32 bits instead of 64 bits, which would give me 4GB RAM.
My used RAM is 3GB, I only have 256MB left, if I had Windows 7 at 64 bits, I would have 1.25GB RAM left.

a machine from pentagon...

run's infinite instances of wow..
0 lag, and insane net speed..

A very good idea is not to have an antivirus running :)

no issue here :)

I just got an i5 and i was botting 2 wows at 1080p while playing fallout. If you turn your graphics low, set your resolution low, and make sure to check off the "Max Framerate" and set it to 20 and you are g2g

vm with 2 processors (3,2 each) & 4GB ram assigned runs 3 bots w/o any probs at 20fps each. could easily set up 1-2 more. fps will go down to 5-9, but do i care? no. its all fine. HB does not need many fps.
good thing is, i got 2 more processors for doing anything else, thats why i run it in a VM, it cannot consume more ressources than i assign.

WoW doesn't really need alot to run, providing it can handle a few clients and instances of HB its all good... even if it's not 30fps mark.

The newer AMD APU chips are not too bad in all honesty and with their in built GPU it saves some cash in the long haul.
Also I'm a big fan of RAM when it comes too running multiple tasks at once, the more the better.

So building a hypothetical computer I'd slap together something cheap as I'd make my money back quicker and in a shorter amount of time.

People call me a and fan oi but they are cheap here is a system for under 500 us that can run 10 accounts and the CPU is very very cheap to replace if needed because of certain circumstances

1045t / 6100 either is good
Am3+ / satA 3 mb
8 gig ram
Vertex 4 ssd (lot of ocz haters but vertex 4 has 5 year warranty and it's cheap and god it's fast
Any video card 9800gtx or better (CPU benchmark score 1900 or better
Random crap ass 500w powersupply

Case forget it buy a price of SOLID line and screw it down and hang that b on the wall

APus are ok but aren't fast egnough to handle 10 bots ATM except the expensive ones go with

1045 or 6100
