Welcome back, Wired!

I couldn't agree more. The best we can do for these people is to show them how to behave, remind them of what is expected, or in the case of bug reports lead by example and show them how its done 'right'. When these wheels squeak too loud, simply ignore them and move on. Some posts simply don't deserve the time it takes to respond.

Many a fine developer has been chased off by loud clattering noises created by the posts of unrespectful users. Most developers will tolerate a considerable amount of incompetence on the user's part, as we were all 'noobs', once. However, there is simply no excuse for arrogance or dis-respect towards someone whom you are acquiring something for free.

The general attitude of posters has seemed to improve over the last couple of months. Even the last wave of "QQ-HB/GB doesn't work" wasn't as bad as it has been in the past. More people are taking action to report the details, and submit bug reports. Although, many still need the 'attach a log' lesson beaten into them with a very big stick. :D

I respectfully disagree with your assessment on questing...
We truly have some Epic Grand Masters of writing questing profiles on the Alliance side in this community. I've used questing profiles from Mordd, BPAlpha, Synik, and Panyama, and they all worked beautifully. (I also tossed a donation at each as a 'thank you'.) These are not all of the significant contributors, but the ones I have personally used in the past (sorry, if I've missed someone).

Like software development, people write quest profiles for various reasons. Some are in it for the money, but I believe the majority in our Community are driven by the challenge and pride of workmanship.

The Quest profile machinery is broken for a lot of the new quest mechanics introduced by Cataclysm, but that will change in time. Personally, I believe questing is the major contributing factor in why I've yet to be banned on any of the several accounts I run. <knocks on wood>

Just offering a counter-opinion to all those that think PvP/grinding is the only way it should be done. :D

cheers,
CJ

You are very well spoken. /stares in awe

Not often do you see someone on a public forum that speaks and spells properly. I suppose, since you are Wiki Head, that you have ingrained it within yourself to be this way so that you can make the wiki clear and concise? If not, it still pleases me to read intelligent posts. :) Two thumbs up to you.

I believe it should be done through questing too. Unfortunately there are not many people with the time it takes to complete a questing profile. Mordd's was great at parts, and other parts it jumped from zone to zone. I've not tried one by the other three you mentioned.

The point being that quest profiles are such a pain to make in their current state with all the if branches and such needed for different class quests and such, that people get disenfranchised at points and throw crap together just to work instead of being the best path possible. To be honest for the fastest route possible 90% of the quests need over rides. I could provide examples but that would take some time to collect data from my personal quest profile I've been working on and wow head and screen shots from in game and I just don't feel like it at the moment.

I understand this is the best way to do profiles at the moment. I'm simply stating that most users don't have the time with real life going on and all to put forth the effort to make a truly awesome profile. I've got 1-25 done that took weeks to get to work just right, and still ran into areas that weren't meshed where the major quest lines were.

this. It takes A LOT of time to make a proper solid flawless good profile everything else is just trown together quickly and works half way.
but as wired420 said it takes time.

Well from my experience with both of the BEST HANDS DOWN BOTS EVER the only thing I think to make GB better is just the ability to use HB's custom classes made by the various people of the community. Like instead of setting up bar 3 just have it load your current classes custom class and you are g2g...but that I'm guessing would be the same as implementing GB as an HB plugin.

Maybe just a simple addition to the GB coding to allow HB Combat logic to be used partially (e.g. Hunters are ranged, which obviously means they would be much better gatherers with the logic implemented)

I'm not so sure of that. I've been using my hunter to try and level with HB's combat logic and found it to be a pain. I only say this because when a mob gets within melee range of the hunter the hunter will then use disengage (or whatever it is that makes the hunter jump backwards) and fly into other groups of mobs. I've tried the CCs that are available and they just don't work right for soloing and farming. They're awesome for running instances though, but running solo and jumping backwards into a pack of aggressive mobs can be quite lethal. I've had to use feign death more while using HB's combat logic to farm than I've had to use it in my hunter's four years of existence. I'd much rather a CC be made for simple shot rotations, procs, and CDs than to be fully automated. Or, at least take out disengage and force the pet to pick up aggro once more. Just my opinion. I've never been one to like playing pet classes anyway, which is why my worglock was put on hold. I just hate micromanaging pets. I play frost/blood DK as well and only use the temp ghoul when need be.
