Monk vs Barb for Inferno Champion Farming

Well i dont recommend bottign champions.... after a whole week of farming with 250GF, i only made @ 4mils? O_O that is very very very sad on EU servers

Act 1 kinda sucks. It's expensive to do the others, but well worth the rewards. If I don't make 5-10 a day something is wrong.

I recommend a monk

It's quicker then a barb, and I spent roughly 15m. Ok maybe a bit more, but that's because I was lazy and didn't want to wait for auctions to end.

So I'm at 30% CH, 170% CD, 22% block, 800AR unbuffed (with passive ofc), 1347 LoH, 106% MF without valor, 6k armor with passive, 27k HP (would like 30K+) and 20K dps unbuffed.

If I lose some of the LoH, and go with more CH and CD, DPS will go to 25k.

I've botted with a barb.

I've botted with a monk.

The barbs skill that heals him procs a lot. Makes him survive a lot better than a monk.

The barb is on my friends account. Not sure how well its geared.

So past 24hrs or so I decided to try out a huge dps setup for my monks mainly just changing his weap really and some crit etc but I got them 2Hs with about 950~ dmg , 180%+ crit dmg + socket w/ 70% crit, 200dex (one has 290), sitting at 36k~ dps with 360+% crit dmg its kind of fun seeing my monks burn through act 2 mobs like paper. They suprisingly don't die as much as I would have thought at about 600~ resists 40k hp 29% crit dmg avg. Oh and I was running with 0 LOH, and with Giles combat being a little slow on serenity casting, I think its been doing great overall.

Fun thing to see your tornadoes critting for 20k+ and your vortex doing huge dmg making illusionists,yellow packs really quick trivial unless avoidance bugs out a little due to molten trails/small areas. I die about once an hr or twice if im unlucky but its a nice alternative to expensive LOH weaps.

I have no experience with a barb but I can tell you what I've experienced with my 3 monks...

I started with 1 monk a couple weeks ago and then got 2 more just a few days ago...

All my monks pretty much have very similar gear.

I'm fairly new to this all (So maybe I could've got better gear at less) and I've been running Act 3 Champion Hunting on all my bots.

My main one gets at least 380k+ GPH, I've seen it in the 400s

The other 2 are in the low 300ks.


On each one of these bots, I run enchantress as my follower with a puzzle ring + grand vizier along with a rare ring and ammy with gf/mf. So you can add on another ~3-4 Mill for each accounts worth of gear in terms of gearing up the follower.

getting 300-400k gph and 15-25milxph with a monk on about 10-15 mil worth of gear. I think barbs can get higher number than that, but the gear would cost much, much more.

I prefer barbs.

I had a barb that could take on Inferno Act3 MP3 with no problems with only about 60mil worth of gear.

My first bot was a monk who is getting close to paragon 85. He dies once or twice in a 24hour period and farms the fastest of the three bots I have. The other two are barbs who die more often and farm slower. I regret leveling the barbs through paragon but figure I'll stick with it but if I had the time back I would have made 2 new monks rather than start botting lv60 barbs. In my experience the monk bots extremely well.

Should your funds to gear your character be in the billions, a monk will outperform a barb in champ botting.

He can autopilot on mp3, ww build. 30mil xp/hr. 500k gold/hr very few deaths...maybe 1~2 day

Nailed it. I could play by hand and wreck house with a barb, but the skills a monk has (heal, 4sec immunity, teleporting attack, movespeed passive) are just perfect for a bot.

I have a barb that did 150k dps unbuffed a monk with 116k unbuffed Monk gph per hour was at 590-650k it kills faster period. The monk has the 48% damage buff as well as a 10% run speed passive. The most I ever got my barb up to was 525k gph a hour and both accounts are 100 paragon. These numbers are from MP1 runs.
