monk combat and problems with dash

1) Is there any way to stop my monk from being in the middle of an elite pack, and then suddenly dashing out of the pack, and then back in, repeatedly? There's no ground effects or anything else triggering avoidance, yet he does this consistently, like he can't figure out whether he wants to fight or not.

He does this with both I6R2 as well as LoNLTK.
Trinity .789 and latest update.
