Mining -- Worth it?

Hello there all,

I have bought GB Yesterday and I am just amazed by its quality, it really does gather just fine. Now I am wondering I only have Herbing as a gathering profession and I looked at the paths etc and they all got mining in it, would it double the profit or even triple it while flying around gathering?

Also;

1-525 Mining, how long will that approx take?

mining is a hit or miss profession depending on your ah and the day sometimes new ore goes for 120g a stack some days its 80 and old ores sell 30-50g a stack depending so there is no real concrete answer. but as i mine and dont herb i think its worth more as if you did mining and another profession it pays out in low level gear thats 5-10 gold each

oh time it would take... usually takes a normal miner 24-48 hours to get 1-450 and maybe 8-10 hours to get past 450-525 thats if you hit all the nodes you see and one ones killing you so in short 3 days
 
Is that with the GB bot active and epic flying availble? :)
 
As of right now on my server herbs are selling for significantly more than ore but its also selling quite a bit slower. On the one hand your I really like mining becuse if you can prospect it your guarenteed something like 39g/stack if you just cut and vendor the gems. Also with mining you get the added benefit of getting a few different kinds of eternals instead of just life all the time.

Edit* I mean volatiles.. it took my months before I stopped calling eternals primals :p
 
Most profiles tagged strictly Herbalism or Mining do work just as well for both.

I did mining 1-500 basically in around 2 hours. 1 Hour to power smelting, and the other 1 hour to do some mining in transitions for the ores I could not get enough to melt with. So If you got the golds, you can powerlevel it in 2 hours.

PS: Dont bother about the other 25 points to 525, they will come naturally when you start botting as 500 is the minimum to mine elementium if I remember correctly. :)
 
Mining is WAY worth taking up if your trying to make money. I have a toon i use for just farming and its mining and herb. I make a ton of gold. If your able to keep an eye on GB as it goes you should be able to get to 500 in a day or two. I just set a profile then go do some stuff then come back when i am done and change it to the next one. I dont know about the #2 posters AH but mine is great. The minerals are selling for 300-350g a stack average and staying that way. The herbs will go for anything from 200-400g a stack depending on a few variables.

Same thing I do. My GB profiles are all organized by level. once I max out I go train then flip it to the next grinding area. easily done in a day.

hes trying to add mining not spend 10,000g on mining and yeah when i did my pally on a new account i did it that way as well as far as i could when no ore was in ah or i didnt have any in the guild bank .. he asked how long it would take start to finish i gave a no shit answer taking out all the what if / possibility's on the auction house .. so yes if you have lots of gold to waste and remake after the fact then yes you can level it in 2 -4 hours and mine 1/3 of what you would if you were to just bot. and keep your gold.

and now you can fly its faster as i said before so it could take you just the time it takes you to set up profiles in GB.

my ah is very volatile, and yes i agree pyrite can go for 200-400g i was meaning elementium ore at 80-200g but, as my servers full of alot of botters its alot cheaper just to get rid of it..
 
Mining goes great with 2 other profeshions. Jewelcrafting, I make triple the amount procspecting the ore. And engineering, as they have an ability to proc voltile air. Airs go for 40 gold on my server. nightstones can be 100 gold on my server to :P

WHAT? Well if you use walk mode that is.. I lvled my Herb/Mining on my newly bought Botter, took me MAX 3hours, with all the travel to learn new skills.
Everytime you go lvling its so hard to choose where to start with all those herbs on minimap - and with flymount its SO fast.
 
Oh and i didnt spend a single penny buying or smelting anything :)

as of cataclysm its been Changed and you again bought your guy lol.. my buddy just droped mining for jc got his gems and went back to mining took him 2 days full on mining BY hand to get it to 525 so you guys must be on pve servers and have node every 2 feet.

2 days is quite too long... i did just right now 2 chars mining 1-525 used the public profiles.. went in 10 hours or so 525
 
Im not botting on my main account and cba to lvl another class to 80 (since i got one of each class either 80 or 85 on main acc) and i do play on PVP server - it does not take more than a couple of hours, and i DID grind from 1-500 myself. That was not a bot, so if you friend took 2 days, thats really really slow and slacky :)
 
I am in the process of getting mining and herbing to 525 at the mo. I started about 9am and with just the public profiles I'm now at 400 on both skills. Sitting in car waiting for other half ATM. The joy of boting. Will be 450 when I get home and off to mount hyjal tonight so about 12 hours 1-525.
 
In the first 2 days that I was able to play Cata, which was like the 10th of December, I made 16,000 gold from mining obsidium ore and selling it on the AH. I just levelled herbalism up to 525 in the last few days and have made about 5k selling the old world herbs and making about 1k an hour just selling the volitle lifes
