Market prediction: Stockpile gold or spend it now?

That is exactly what Turbine the makers of Asheron's Call did, Bind on Equip.
Everquest and Asheron's Call were the pioneers - pre WOW days 1999 - 2003.

Still remember in 2001 UCLA did a study on Asheron's Call (AC).

Had AC been considered a real world country verses a virtual world. Based on the amount of real life money being made off AC, it would have been ranked number 173 in the real world country list.

In 2000 the highest level Mage character lvl 85 Faze on Frostfell server, sold for over $16,000.00 USD via ebay.

One man interviewed by UCLA study in Idaho, USA. Had created his own auction website for virtual items sold from AC. He earned that year 2.8 million USD, tax free of course, as the tax collector's in 2000/2001 still had not figured out what virtual items meant or how to tax the items.

That was then this is now.

One thing remains the same, the fun of not really knowing what potential awaits around the next corner. And will we be ready for it....

I don't know if it's the positive attitude, the inspirational idealism, or the sunglasses emote, but I like you.

if they always give us new items with best stats.. 2-3-4 months update.. people will have to farm for them again.. and when pvp will go out i think price of items and all will be renew.. if they renew items with best quality.. business will be good

I'm only going to spend enough to get near 500K gph, I'm at 410K gph right now with 257% gf. Now, I just need to purchase 3-4 additional sets and save them for other accounts.

Ilvl 63 (best items) will be dropping in A1-3 and with the new Nephalem Valor system you can expect ~3 times more gold loots to drop in the first place. So basically once patch goes live everyone will get a huge nerf *cry attackspeed* and a huge boost *w00t lots of drops* also people will be killing way more champion packs in the first place. And Nephalem Valor will be almost permanently active from the time you attain it until you have completed the act youre in so yes. MASSIVE LOOT BOOST.

I'm saving up for this right now.

Ahh, and since so few people are actually capable of efficiently farmign A3 Inferno ATM. We will also see a massive influx of ilvl 62-63 items. Like 3-5 times more items hitting the market.

What is this NP change? I can't recall reading any other change besides it affecting champion/rare packs with 2 guaranteed drops instead of 1 (with 5 stacks).

Ehm, obvious you haven't done a lot of level 60 play lol.

Current NV 5 stacks:
75% magic / gold find
2 guaranteed gold drops per boss and +5 drops (can be blues or gold more MF gives a higher chance they're going to be golds)
No guaranteed drops per rare / champ pack.

New NV 5 stacks:
75% magic / gold find
1 guaranteed gold drop per boss and +5 drops (can be blues or gold more MF gives a higher chance they're going to be golds)
1 guaranteed rare per champ / rarepack.

So say you did 3 Maghda runs before, 20 min per run:
5 champ packs with random chance of dropping yellows / blues.
1 Boss kill with 2 guaranteed yellows and +5 potentially good items.

Say you do a Maghda Run post patch:
5 packs, kill Maghda (20 minutes) - 2 guaranteed gold drops.
Continiue after with 5 stacks for another 40 minutes, kill 12 more packs (assuming it takes the same time for all packs and counting the time you would have used to kill Maghda on each run) 12 guranteed rare drops, but you also do it with a constant 75% magic find buff active which again gives more rare drops, and mobs will be easier then they are today which means you kill more. And more people will be capable of doing this so there will be an even higher influx of loot, which gives you better gear, which gives you an even higher influx of loot after that again, and so on and so on.

1 hour of play prepatch: 6 guaranteed rares
1 hour of play postpatch: 13 guaranteed rares and a higher chance of finding additional ones.

Seems to me you didn't do much lvl 60 play either. When you switch to mf gear it is rare to not loot rare ;) Most of the time I was already getting 1.5 rares / pack, so this changes nothing in that regard, since their amount of drops is low to begin with.

Not sure why people even did maghda runs... what you would do is cynadea + azmodan ( 4 guaranteed, but the packs already pushed that to more then 10 ). Rarely have I gone below 12 rares in such a run, that doesnt make good items appear out of thin air though. Act 3 drops will still consist of 92% not even able to roll good. 8% might get good.

Oh and btw azmo runs, if I could still be bothered to do them took me 20-25 min tops. (excluding the guaranteed resplendid with 5 stacks at the end)
