I usually sit at 20-30 frames in raid/dal. I'd love to get it to a stable 60+fps in raids/crowds. price range is $300-500.
Please give me some input! :D
Btw, I will be running only 1 wow program at a time, no multiboxing.

Thanks!

Forgive me if i'm incorrect but wouldn't it be better to upgrade the CPU over the video card since WoW is very CPU based?

with their new grapics features a good card will really help but cpu is typically always a better option.... However to stay on topic i use the RADEON 5850 Black Edition and it runs better than wow can even compete with so go wit that.... think i picked mine up off tigerdirect for $300... wish i could get the new 6870!!!! those are sick! but like i said mine keeps up with wow just fine

Would depend on his current CPU and GPU. GPU's are mostly the bottle neck at higher resolutions.

If you have a NICE processor and that much money to spend, I would say go with a ATI 6870 or two. They run about $250 each. If you wanna $500 on one card then go with the ATI 5970 or nVidia 580. You could also with til Sec 13th and get the new ATI 6950 or 6970 which should be the fastest things made. Check out these links: Inno3D GeForce GTX 580 OC - Introduction
AMD Radeon HD 6870 - Introduction
You could also go to the forums at doghousesystems.com and ask. They're really helpful

ati 5770 = $150 on newegg.
ati 5870 is like 320-400.

I actually recommend 2x 5770 (SLI / Crossfire) over 1x 5870 as you get more ram, but with 5870 you get 256-bit vs 128 with 5770.

The only downside to going with 5xxx series is that you get a 128 bit Interface rather than 256bit... which for new games is going to be a big deal...

What are you talking about? 5830 and up in the 5xxx series all are 256 bit or higher. You mean the 5770 specifically?

except with 5870

Sorry you are correct. BUT i highly recommend going with something better than a 5770 as it does only have a 128 bit Interface.

Yep, but do remember than anything w/ 256 bit will cost a lot more =)

I linked the 5870 specs. The 5770 only has 128 bit, but I can easily run ultra settings in a 25 man raid at 60 fps w/ v-sync on at max rez and have a few accounts botting at the same time

The question is, do you want Nvidia or Ati?
Nvidia: 2x 460/470 or 1x 580
Ati: 2x 6870 or 1x 5970

That's what i would recommend.

WoW doesn't support SLI/CF so a single gpu card will be best.

Cheap options: GTX 460 or HD6850
Average: GTX 470 or HD6870
High end: GTX 480 or GTX 580

all of these are single gpu cards and all of them will run WoW ultra (if not then shadows at high) on 1080p.
would also help if you posted your computer specs

The last I knew, WoW did not support multiple gpus You would actually see a decrease in FPS running 2 as opposed to running one.

However, as stated previously in the thread, you have to consider the CPU and machine as well. Putting the best video card you can buy in an older MB/Cpu setup is not necessarily going to give you the highest performance.

The gtx480 get insanely hot, i had to put a watercooler on mine to keep the temperature sane (now max.48 deg C b4 max.120!!!!!!)

I run a qx6800 with asus 5870 on my main computer.. always run around on high quality and never lag..

my bot comp is 2.6 duo core with an xfx 4870 and runs 6 games just fine. i'm actually looking to sell off my other 4870 and a 3870x2 (was crossfiring the 4870s in main and bot had 3870x2)

What ever you do, DO NOT CROSSFIRE/SLI!!!! You will see no performance increase in WoW, since it does not support sli/crossfire and not to mention WoW is a CPU base gamed as stated before. Get an i5/i7 or wait for the new cpu coming out in q1 2011.

48 with a water cooler? I put an aftermarket cooler on mine(air) and mine never goes above 60...
