Goldfarming will bring you steady income but i find it less appealing now since higher paragons will (should) be able to farm as much as 400k gph plus the bonus of having found legendary/set items. If you are absolutely starting from scratch, i would buy some gold and get started that way, theres no point in waitiing to "slowly" build your characters, you want to be able to get to as high paragon as possible within the shortest amount of time then find the sweet spot in MP which your bots are comfortable botting in.

This is what you should do. I was hardcore goldfarmer until paragon introduced. My gf DH bots would get 525-550k an hour which at the time was great because gold was $1.50 per 1 mil. Now it just doesn't make sense to GF when you can get 400k gold an hour with max paragon PLUS the chance at something to sell for many mils. I'll gladly sacrifice the 100-150k for the shot at a 30+ mil item per few days.
As for the douche saying he makes $70-100 per day........nada....ain't gonna happen for the average botter.
