This is possible as you can now gain XP by mining and herbing nodes.
Recommendations:
Level 80 with i289+ crafted green/blues. For slots that doesn't have any level 80 crafted, buy those random green i289+ items. For melee, the i289 weapon (regardless of stats) are a great upgrade, assuming you don't have an i264/i277/i284.
If you were hand leveling, you would quest:
Mount Hyjal/Vashj'ir (80-82)
Deepholm (82-83)
Uldum (83-84)
Twilight Highlands (84-85)
I wouldn't do Vashj'ir, as its underwater and is a pain. Not to mention to even be efficient at this place, you have to do a series of quest to get underwater breathing and an underwater mount. So, go do Hyjal 'till 82. This alone will probably get you 500+ on mining and herbalism. It should take you a day or two of botting to get to 82.
I would skip Deepholm, as the respawn rate has been nerfed, which means less ores/herbs, which translates to less XP, so slower leveling. Also, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of herbs here. Much like Vashj'ir, you have to do quests to open up the zone, vs. just being able to fly there like all the other zones. Go straight for Uldum. At this point, you can get crafted i333 gears to help expedite killing astray mobs.
Uldum is a huge area, with ores/herbs scattered all over the place. It's very unlikely you'll run into someone vs. Hyjal, where the ores/herbs seems to have a more centralized location. With crafted i325/i333 gears, you shouldn't have any problems mowing down the mobs here at 82. Continue until 84, at least.
Twilight Highlands is your last spot. I recommend you be level 84 at the least. Mobs here hit quite hard, and have quite a bit amount of HP (~80k+). The i333s you have should be enough. Depending on your class, more i333s may be available at this level, and maybe even some i339s. Get as much as you can, to survive the harsh Twilight Highlands. Level 84->85 requires a whopping 9.2 MILLION XP. At Twilight Highlands, you can do CoC (Crucible of Carnage), which is a series of 5-man group "arena"-esque quest, where you kill 5 "bosses". This is a great way to get a very nice i333 weapon, and is a very fast way to gain 555,200xp. These quests are easily puggable, and b/c of the i333 weapon + a chunk of easy XP, it will be very easy to find other level 84s to group with to do this. The CoC-zone isn't phased, so you can immediately go there and do the 5 quests, without opening up any other quests.
At level 85, you can even go further and finish off any i339s, or get i346 gears. Raid epics are i359, and there are some BoE/craftable epics that are ranked as such. With all that gold you made, I'm sure you can afford a couple i346/i359 epics, to make sure your bot survives the encounters, right?
Note, that because there's a significant amount of phasing in these zones, you probably won't see anyone when you're botting since real players are actively questing, and are phased in their progress. It may even get to the point where you'll see more bots than real players =P.
