I was banned and am no longer supporting this as I am no longer playing. Feel free to use however you see fit.

I noticed when I tried to use FishingBuddy, it would not cast my Arcane Lure nor would it cast any of my other lures you can fish up. I have come out with KeepLureActive which will assist you (80% of the work) of keeping your lures active and try to get the rare fish from certain zones.

Fishing list: The Legion Fishing Artifact, Underlight Angler - Guides - Wowhead

What it does:

  • Makes sure you aren't Mounted, Casting, In Combat, or Channeling before it tries to do anything.
  • Makes sure you don't already have one of the other fishing lures listed below as an active aura before it will cast another Rare lure.
  • Makes sure you are in one of the pre-defined zones.
  • Makes sure that the rare lure or Arcane Lure you are using is being used in the correct zone.
  • Use items that are picked up that are needed to get fishing lures
  • Pause for (default '60') seconds after using a rare lure, so it won't try again until the 60 seconds is up.
  • Settings to enable/disable the items.
  • If you are in any pre-defined zone other than Margoss' Retreat, it will keep Arcane Lure active.
  • Throw fish back in so it does not fill up your inventory if enabled.

What it doesn't do (yet):
  • Cast your fishing line
  • Move anywhere
  • Do something else other than the list above.

To Do list:
  • Fix Mark of Aquaos and see if there's a way to determine if the pond has the buff on it or not instead of a flat timer.
  • Add Combat with Aquaos and then put yourself back where you were. (this might happen, but don't hold your breath).
  • Add Facing toward pools (not likely to be added here, but maybe to Fishing Buddy)

What works well right now?
I'm working on getting my artifact fishing pole
If you are just trying to get your fishing pole, semi-afk fishing is preferred. Some of the items *will not work* in its current design. Example: Sleeping Murloc. He will drop the rare fish on the ground and the bot will just sit there. For those, you will just have to uncheck it from being used and then manually use it when you get back. That shouldn't be a big deal.

I have my pole and want to get AP with it.
If you have your pole and want to just increase it AFK, Val'Sharah seems to be the best for this Plugin right now. You can 100% AFK fish and all 3 lures work and it will throw the fish back without any additional setup. You find any pond/river, etc that looks right to you and just spam it. I got all of my main ranks in a day there and now I'm working on the Barrel fishing ones.

How to Install:
1. Download zip file.
2. Extract to Plugins folder
3. Go to settings and change what you want.

Use this to loot crates once you have your Fishing Pole

This looks pretty awesome, I was hoping someone would make a plugin for this, its a pain to have to babysit it because the arcane lure only lasts 10 minutes lol. thanks for the plugin

Yeah that was my thought too. I started as "let me keep Arcane Lure active" then I just kept going haha
 
Forgive my ignorance, but what do I do with the CS? Do I just create a folder in the Plugin folder and put this CS in it?

*Edit* Yeah, answered my own question. Been a while since I had to mess with plugins. :P

Ok, so I just used it an I was in Azsuna and it used a Frost Worm Bait. Any chance you can add a zone-checker to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen?
 
Thats one thing... Zone checker for bait

Also bait that you leave on the ground and then something buffs you later like within 30 seconds it's using another lure before that one.. maybe add a pause after it uses any lure before checking if it should use one again?

I had already planned that, but I've never done that before so I was going to see how before I implemented it. For now, I think what I'll do is add a setting for each one and just let you uncheck it.

I'll see what I can do. I threw this together really fast, so I didn't really double check what it was going to do. I think a 1 minute pause between any bait is pretty acceptable?
 
Ok, just Updated! It should *theoretically* only use the right stuff in the right zone. It should only even try to run if you are in one of the 5 major zones. "Open Ocean" will only check that you are in one of the 5, but the rest will verify that you are in the correct zone before using it. I did it by ZoneId and not name, so there should be no language barriers with it. I also added a settings file for every single item to use. You can enable/disable to your heart's content and be able to use this stuff if you decide to write a different plugin to automatically pick this stuff up.
 
Great plugin idea! I had a few issues when I used it. I launched WoW and started FishingBuddy, with no lure active, and it never applied the lure. It did use my ocean sea items while I was in the middle of Stormheim. Going to try it again soon and verify.

I'll double check it in about an hour and update.
 
It's definitely not following zones at the moment, so I just unchecked every item not in the zone im fishing it. The arcane lure didn't active at first because it prioritized over one of the other lures and needed to wait 60 seconds.
 
I can't test it now, but I think it was due to the pause timer. I was doing a stop() and start(), but I think I needed a start() and reset(). I think stop() and start() will just keep it going. I'll test it when I get home and see if I can make it work and then publish in about 3-4 hours.

If you want to fix it yourself until I post it, change the line for:

No problem! I'll share the upload later on... I also added Dalaran as a location so you won't use your items when you are there and can do some more.
 
I have updated with the latest. The issue with the "Open Ocean" one is that there are multiple "Open Ocean" areas. I've already found 2, so let me know if you find any more.

Fixes:
- Fixed the stopwatch, so it'll correctly pause for X seconds after using a lure.
- Added The Great Sea (Zone ID: 7656) to "Open Ocean"
- Added Broken Shore (Zone ID: 7543) to "Open Ocean"

If there are any more "ocean" zones, feel free to let me know and I will add them. You can determine what zone you are in by opening Honorbuddy for the first time and it says:
