HB is NOT the culprit; PQR and PE are. If HB-only users were getting banned, the site would be flooded with ban reports. There are only a handful of such reports from today's events.

HB isn't detected. PQR/PE look like they've been detected from release and Blizzard waited for it to get big to throw bans out as a warning. None of the people I raid with that use HB and only HB have been banned. 3/3 of the people I know that used PQR/PE (even for a few days back in July) have been perm banned, reverted to 72hr after appeals. Stick to HB and don't be banned

By the way, HB has a tripwire that in the case Blizzard detects HB, the tripwire is pulled and HB immediately goes down for all users until the staff investigate it. We've had a few false positive tripwires in the past if my memory serves me correctly

Oh, btw, PQR came out in May of 2012. If it was detected back then, you'd be seeing a lot more than 510,000 accounts banned for using it.

It's all in how you use it. If someone watches your toon attempt to farm the same node for ten minutes, you're gonna have a bad time. If you're running dungeons as DPS and you just follow the tank without hitting anything, you're gonna have a bad time.

We can speculate all we want as far as Blizz goes. They've proven they're not afraid to shut down hundreds of thousands accounts. Personally I'm scared to death now that I know my account has had a suspension on it. Only time will tell if they take action against HB users if they found some way to detect them like they did with PQR.

I don't think that at all. I just think the chance with HB is significantly less than anything else on the market at the moment.

Sorry, I was tired when I typed that but by release I meant earlier last year. I don't remember when it was released but I heard about it around May '13 so that's when I assumed it came out.
