You probably installed Windoze's latest patch. The KB3000850 patch specifically is absolutely HORRID. Without going into technical specs, I would suggest that you uninstall it until they fix all the related issues with it.
So, uninstall KB3000850, restart your computer and do a fresh install of DB.
