Ive been a big botter all my life. For the past 6 years Ive been botting runescape constantly but I find its time to step it up a noch. Now that I have a computer capable of running multiple instances of wow, I want to start gold farming.

Wow is the only game I ever do play, and I have a main account with almost 90 everything.

If I am to start botting on two throw away accounts, how much risk am I putting my main account in?

I will be doing this all on the same computer, I will not be playing my main while botting.

Can I be ip banned?

---------------------------------------------------------------

My plan

Bot a Tauren druid and pally to 90 through RAF

Acquire Herbilism and mining on both

Send all Mats to a G bank my main is in

Turn mats into potions and gems.

Keep the gold for my self.

--------------------------------------

I know everyone policy are the same but the only difference is Jagex would only go after the botted account, they wouldn't look to see if you had a main account profiting from this. As where I feel like blizzard would check to see what you were doing, and then ban the account making profit, or even ip ban you.

------------------------------------------

tl;dr

How much at risk am I putting my main by gold farming for my self, not to sell.

From what I've read here on the forums - they don't IP ban.
Though it might not be a good idea to sell everything from one account. People spread the selling on AH on multiple accounts.

I believe I've been IP banned before, lost everything at once, then started 2 months later and the account was closed within the hour without having done anything but a few quests by hand while HB was being updated for 5.4 (reason stated abuse of economy in email, live chat said an exploitive third party accessed my account - aka my same ip)

I'm a huge fan of gbanks and crafting tho!

i have suffered about 6 - 8 bans so far over the last year (i bot fairly aggressively). none have shown any evidence of an IP ban (multiple bots runnings on same pc/ip at time of bannings, some unaffected).

couple of points from me, you might not find them appropriate but since i have put these into effect everything has been smooth sailing for me.

1. dont bot on your main if youre not willing to lose it. just dont.
2. plan/organise your accounts / guild setup / tradeskills / EVERYTHING. make a good plan for all your interactions between accts.
3. have a completely clean acct that never has a bot touch it. have 2 guilds, both guild leaders be on this acct. 1 guild for mats to be stored and processed. 2nd guild for warehouse for your AHbot(s). if you want to go hardcore, have a 3rd guild purely for gold selling (i personally am too lazy to do this, i just sell from my AH guild)
4. depending on how much gold youre going to sell, get some $5 battlechests as throwaway accts for gold selling. this is more of a better safe than sorry than a major requirement.

they only ban the account. but you should consider using a guild vault to transfer gold or anything you find.

If I suspected that I had ever been IP banned I'd of personally changed my IP just in case.

As I have said before Im not going to sell the gold I make, im going to keep it for personal use.

Option A - I plan on sending all the mats I gather, to my bank alt on my main account. Then distribute thoose mats across my main account and turn them into flask and gems.

Option B - Make a guild alt on my bot account, add one of my mains to the guild, then promote him to leader after giving that alt some gold to make it look like i bought the Guild. Then distribute the mats.

A bot will never touch my main account. Only the 2 other accounts I plan on purchasing.

Im trying to do this in a way that my main has no chance of being banned. Only the two botting accounts.

I currently farm 5 instances of wow, usually a team of 5 farming heroics but sometimes i split them up to farm bc/ cata/ wrath nodes or skins as they are most profitable on my server. I dump all mats and gold into gbank so if one character gets hit, in theory the others may be fine. Been going at it for about 4 months and still haven't got hit, but they are all throw away accounts I got for 5 bucks a piece. plus i think 20 for all expansions. Use a p r o x y for each instance of wow so the risk of getting IP banned is much lower. I bot on my main account as well, but am much more cautious and supervise it, the throw away account I leave on for about 18-20 hours a day

I usually have one character playing AH, and 3-4 farmers that will deposit mats into gbank. ~50-100K a day, I'm not greedy but it sure helps with the bills.

IP ban? Only private server versions of games generally do that.

What they can do is look at the ips logged into those accounts, possibly looking for additional accounts as well by the IP(s).

I would say you have a fair amount of risk compared to just putting the mats into a gbank as this guy suggested above me, and then selling them in bulk for a discount via trade chat *what I do for personal use*.

I must say though the more I see these posts the more I want to start selling.

botter4life..
You farm heroics on them all?
What do you use to run each instance on a seperate *****?
Also if you don't mind what is your general selling point X$/1k gold?

Code:
GM: hmmm it looks like your account is brand new and may have been used by an exploitive party; may i verify the full name and secret question answer so i can flag everything correctly?
i was on a list of some sort...

i have lost around 8-10 accounts over the last year and made over 4m gold which isnt much . rules i follow

1. NEVER GATHER BOT ON YOUR MAIN ITS JUST STUPID
2. never send mats / gold to your main , make it the guild master and allow it to collect it from your guild
3. be prepared to lose all your accounts at the drop of a hat
4. never bot more then 12 hours per day w/o breaks i.e 15 minute break after 30 minutes of farming the more random the better
5. never bot in the same place doing the same thing for more then 1 day at a time everyday a new place going for new items
6. buy a basic wow account not upgraded to do your merchanting , be prepared to have it banned and appeal it as it will be a unwarranted ban and it will be remove then use that account to sell all your mats from guild bank replacing all money into guild bank

hope my basics help .

They dont really have set rules. If the GM is vigilant and you're botting remorselessly then they dont give a shit and they will lookup your IP and close everything down that's been on it.
Happened to me two times. One time I even got a domain ban (yeah they took everything under my @domain).

Your main is not safe if you bot on the same IP-adress as you play your main. But its a very low risk. However if you own a 1000? account, I would never be associated with botting on the same computer ever.

EDIT: Who am I? Been botting for 4 years, lost roughly 150 accounts through bans. Still got 90-100 accounts living (no gametime) and atm botting with 25-35.

I either run all 5 of them as a group together and just do random heroics or I split them up and farm with 3/4 of them and use one as an AH bot constantly playing the AH, although, I do have multiple toons I do this on so one char doesn't have 300+ auctions in the day. I try to sell as much bulk as I can to buyers on my realm, I have some guildies and friends that will buy say 50 stacks to level up alchemy or something but for the most part I d/e all greens/ blues, prospect all the ore, and mill all the herb and sell the mats as that is what makes me the most gold. Each day fluctuates, some days I may only make 20K across 5 accounts, but other days I may pull in closer 70/80K.

Its been working alright for me so far but gold prices keep dropping, I try to sell to guildies and BNET friends for $1/K but if I wanna dump a whole bunch the chinese are usually paying 0.60-70/K sometimes less, depends on supply and demand. It covers my monthly sub cost + my internet bill plus a little spending money depending on how well business is, but don't expect to get rich off it. I just enjoy botting and I expect to be banned sooner or later, but I'd just buy more throw away accounts when the next $5 BCHEST sale is happening

So I should probably Just not bother until I get another pc to avoid putting my main at risk
