Alright, well I all of a sudden had a brain spark! lightbulb icon.webp

You can simply add GB to an acct that you're trying to make hotspots with (while HB2 is down) and you can run around and hit my location on that, too!

The only problems that I forsee is that it doesn't have a "target info" button to bring up anything for FactionID, but thats a small problem.

So if you're needing to edit old profiles with new coords, update npc locations (use a little bit of common sense) and you can simply make HB2 profiles, minus small things like factionID which most are already available. It may take an extra minute or 2, and you can't debug your profile but at least you can make them!

This goes for now, and when cata hits.

So as soon as GB is up, I can attempt to at least make hotspot profiles (which is a PITA in itself) and simply add vendors / mailboxes from hotspot information + common sense.

I don't know if I was the only one that missed 1 big key detail that GB has a My Location button, too.

I wonder if the devs will stick in "target information" and "blackspot" buttons for the cata patch so that it will make making profiles extrememly ez until hb2 comes up

Yes but most of the quests no longer exist, But it is a fix for grind profiles. You could get most of this info from wowhead like quest/mob ID but it will be a lot less work. Perhaps the dev's would be willing to release a small programme that would make the syntax for quest for use when cata hits and for the new 1 to 60 quests

A few of us already have been taking advantage of this but thanks for sharing, I just hope now the zygor heroes don't come along and start trying to directly copy from the guide.

yea srsly... whats wrong with that? lol I did a lvl 1-20 zygor questing =/

I'd like to do this but I don't own GB. What are the chances of a ProfileBuddy being released someday? Basically just the tab from HB with the Location/Target/etc buttons, no actual bot functionality. We could use it to work on profiles when HB is being updated. Just a thought.

I've asked for something like this in the HB2 thread and one of the mods deleted it.

I've got an even better way of starting on new profiles. I've already got zygors latest levelling guide. If you open the main .lua file (Interface\AddOns\ZygorGuidesViewer\Guides\ZygorLevelingHordeWOTLK.lua) you can actually see the walk-through text version of their guide, complete with NPC ID's and Quest ID's. I've been using that to create the pickup/turnin code for questing profiles, then once HB is up, I can have it grab the quest, dump the objective code and paste it into the profile. Already done 11-25 of Eastern Kingdoms

Thats great =)

I don't have the patience for questing profiles atm. But I the simple grinding ones I can do in 10 minutes or so =)

Yup, posted this like.. Yesterday or something. Thread got moved or removed however. However, it's excellent, shows coords, item IDs, quests ids, npc ids and so on :)

Found it :p

It does not include quest names/npc names are they necessary for a HB profile or are the ID's enough to go on?

The IDs are sufficient, but you should include the names if you plan to write a quality profile.

Honorbuddy uses IDs to get around differences in the various languages in which the WoWclient is published. By using IDs, Honorbuddy knows it is doing the right thing.

However, the Names provide feedback to users of Honorbuddy. Providing Names lets Honorbuddy display messages of the form:
Collecting Small Pebbles x5

Without the Name, Honorbuddy displays messages of the form:
Collecting Item:12456 x5

Obviously, an Honorbuddy user will be happier reading his toon's status using the former, not the latter.

The choice is up to you. But, if you want your profile to be considered a 'quality' one, include the names.

cheers,
CJ

So sorry for the semi-derail, but I'd like to create a profile as well, but I don't have the latest version of Zygor's. Would someone PM me with details on how to get the latest Zygor? Or even how I can always find out what the latest version is? Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, the questing profiles never worked that well anyway. They're weren't 'set and walk away' sort of affairs, they always required babysitting. I finally stopped using them, and started using grinding profiles, which are more of a 'set and walk away' level of botting. You spend so much time at the computer babysitting questing profiles, you might as well be PLAYING BY HAND.

This is simply not true. I've used Questing profiles almost exclusively to get my toons to Level 80. They also have a number of achievements as a side-effect.

I play Alliance side, perhaps you're on Horde and the profiles over there aren't as robust. :D

cheers,
CJ
