Your account was suspended due to use of third party programs, which is against the Terms of Use (Blizzard Entertainment: Battle.net Terms of Use), the relevant part of which can be found in this article :

When running, the World of Warcraft client may monitor your computer's random access memory (ram) and/or cpu processes for unauthorized third party programs running concurrently with World of Warcraft. An unauthorized third party program as used herein shall be defined as any third party software, including without limitation any addon or mod, that in Blizzard Entertainment's sole determination:

I. enables or facilitates cheating of any type;

II. allows users to modify or hack the World of Warcraft interface, environment, and/or experience in any way not expressly authorized by Blizzard Entertainment; or

III. intercepts, mines, or otherwise collects information from or through World of Warcraft. In the event that World of Warcraft detects an unauthorized third party program, Blizzard may

a) communicate information back to blizzard entertainment, including without limitation your account name, details about the unauthorized third party program detected, and the time and date the unauthorized third party program was detected; and/or

b) exercise any or all of its rights under section 6 of this agreement, with or without prior notice to the user.

The use of such programs or files is clearly unfair to the World of Warcraft community playing regularly and is not tolerated on our servers.

Following a review of your case, we can confirm that such program has been used on your account, and that the subsequent action taken is appropriate. We would not look to enter into any further communications on this issue as the matter is now considered closed.

They say they monitor your processes and ram.

If they are able to do that then why aint everyone who uses a bot getting banned?

Blizzard can try to detect bots & hacks? No waaaayyyy get right outta town shut the front door!

People will tell you..probably right after my post here that Blizzard can't scan outside their processes..they are theoretically correct..

Consider this though..they won't ever discuss their methods with you..so the reality of the issue is they can't get caught scanning outside their processes..

Consider this. Many people who have been banned for botting in the past were in fact botting and so they were correctly banned. They appeal the ban and get it overturned. If blizzard were able to scan there processes they would not have overturned the ban. Right? :S

They'd be identifying themselves as using the information they've wrongfully acquired if they final message'd everybody that appealed ;-)

When the bans are overturned it's because they did not have enough solid evidence to prove their claim. After re-evaluating they can re-enable your account. But, they have no obligation to re-evaluate it, and even if they do find that you were in fact not in the wrong, they again have zero obligation to re-enable your account. They do not have to provide any customer service at all really. You pay money for the software initially, then you pay monthly to send and receive data from their servers. Customer service, patches, events, they don't legally have to do any of it, it's just to keep people happy. Happy people pay money.

As for the "wrongfully acquired information." It's not at all. You agree to the ToU before you make an account, before you purchase the software, after your first log-in, and again, every patch. Every time, telling them they can have access to your memory. It is a legal document, like a digital search warrant. If while they were searching your memory for third party software they discovered you were using your computer to buy and sell children, reported you to the police, they came to your home, seized your computer and imprisoned you, THAT would be wrongfully acquired information, unlawful search and seizure, and would hold zero weight in any legal hearing because in the terms that you agreed to, it only gives them access to search for third party software that is running concurrently with World of Warcraft.

There is no way blizzard would have the capabilities to be able to constantly monitor all the memory at all times on computers running their software. The amount of data would be inconceivable. Unless that is where all of our National Security/HLD funding has been going. Super computers for blizzard to catch cheaters. They can however randomly select an account and take a snapshot of the memory at a certain time, or maybe a specific account that has been flagged as suspicious. An immediate permanent ban comes from them having proof that an unauthorized program was running, either from them having information from your memory, or a GM personally witnessing your account being controlled via AI. Which with almost anything with automated movement, it is painfully obvious that it is not being human controlled.

I'm pretty sure a process cant read/write into another process memory without admin privileges
