Is the forumsearch down?

Grow up and stop stirring the shit in every thread you feel agrieved with. You are on a mission to be angry today obviously.

"Aggrieved" is the word I think you were looking for.

However, I could stir shit in every thread if that was the case. Just pointing out that the forum search still doesn't work for me. That against your rules?

Guy's, please stop this childish games, keep this on topic, it's a recurring issue for some people like me, and I'd like to get it resolved.

Keep on topic please.

Well, in that case - I'm sure you'd enjoy getting a PM from Tony like the one I got regarding this issue:

Way to represent your product there, company man.

edit: Meh. Anyways, I'm done. I said a long time ago that I was going to stop replying to you..... and now it happens.

3 days mute

I've been having the dickens of the time with Search also.

I just tried searching for "ProtectedItems" (no space) because there was a post I wanted to see, and couldn't recall where it was. Here is what was returned:
FailedSearch.webp

This happens to me all the time. In fact, I rarely get a search that doesn't do this, so I don't use search much anymore because of it.

I tried changing to a couple of different 'styles' including "forum default" as Ntsmarkv suggested, but no joy. Guess I'll have to give all of them a shot.

Just another datapoint for it not working.

cheers,
CJ

Yeah search keeps going down for me. Get the same page as you chinajade.

im assuming some of the tables in the database are currupt and it only effects certain keywords. I use to have this issue with phpBB back in the day, I dont think many people realize how large your database tables get on a large forum.

I'll tell you exactly what the issue is, since nobody seems to understand what is going on.

When they moved all the threads, they did so doing in the 'hard move' way. (Basically, moving the threads, but not updating the search indexes in the DB. vBulletin does this automatically when a moderator uses the 'Move Thread' option in the inline moderation, or Mod CP)

There's a very simple solution, but only Admins can actually carry it out.

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Update Counters -> Run the stuff related to threads, posts, and search indexes. (There's 6 or 7 IIRC. I don't have an ACP open atm, so I can't check.)

Edit: opened up ACP just to give a list of stuff to run:

Rebuild Thread Information
Rebuild Forum Information
Rebuild Search Index
Rebuild Post Cache
Rebuild Statistics
Rebuild Similar Threads
Update Post Counts
Remove Orphan Threads
Remove Orphan Posts

Not sure if you already sent this to Boss, but if not I forwarded it along to him. Thanks for taking the time to write it up.

THAT would also explain why posts frequently disappear from the "New Posts" list, too!

"Status report, Mr. Scott?"
"Capt'n, she canna take mooch moar... we're leakin' content!"

Thanks for the insight, and the details!

cheers,
CJ

Those are probably me deleting things -.-

I thought you died or somthing. Havent seen you around in ages.

I'm always here, just in the background. I more or less just delete threads/posts/spam instead of leaving it with a witty comment so that the forums stay a bit cleaner. That and I just bought my house and that's sucking up a lot of my time :)

I disagree. For instance, the last entry on this post should have been between "Poll: eBuy 3.1 Upadted By Me." and "Go to first new post [Request] WINTERGRASP". However, the post doesn't show up in the "New Posts" list at all (for me).

I happened to make the last post on that thread, so that's why I remember it. But...
this happens to me all the time. Someone posts something interesting, and it 'scrolls off the Latest Post list', so I go look a few pages back in "New Posts", and its nowhere to be found.

Its a relatively frequent occurence.

cheers,
CJ
