Is it smart to start botting again?

Hey folks,

So i stopped playing about 2-3 months after MoP launched, but recently some friends have started playing again on a fresh server. So I gave it a try and activated my account again (my main account on wich I dont bot), and started from scratch. One thing that bothers me already is having no gold and no heirlooms. All heirlooms are on a char on the same b.net account but obviously on a different realm. So I was thinking about mailing the heirlooms to my bot char, which is on a different account but the same B.net, then transferring him with the heirlooms to this server, so I can have the heirlooms, PLUS I can bot a bit for fun and profit.

However, since this patch caused HB not to work I spent some time looking around on the forums and I get the impression that Blizz is having some great time banning everyone about, so I was wondering if it's even worth it?

One thing to note is that I will probably bot pretty 'casual'. A friend who is already playing a couple of weeks on this server told me that prices of lower lvl herbs and mines (everything lower then MoP, really) are pretty expansive, so my plan was to make my own grinding profiles (as I did before) for those low-lvl herbs/ores, and then only bot when I'm playing on my character on my main account. So no mailing, no 24/7 botting, no AH spamming, probably just a few hours per day of farming. And since I will regulary (manually) check AH prices of different ores and herbs, I will probably change profile every day or so.

What do you guys think, is it worth a try or can you tell me beforehand that I'll get a ban the moment I click start bot? :P

Smart like Always dont bot on account you dont wanne lose:)

Simple:

You can live with losing the account: Bot

You can't live with losing the account:
Do not bot

Risky forms of botting: GB2, Grinding, BGbuddy

Just stay away from gb2, grinding and bgbuddy - anything that someone could potentially report you for suspected botting i guess

But do you still think its risky considering I'll only be botting when im sitting next to it playing on my own char, hence being able to see what happens and being able to respond if nessecary? I have a couple of monitors hooked up to my PC so I can just play my own wow on one screen and watch the bot on the other... Like 90% of all botters do I think :P

Grinding is pretty safe actually if you do it right. Unfortunately everyone does it so stupidly and then get banned going all " WTF ITS DETECTED!!!!"

This is how its done:

1) Get a auto-replier; anyone who whispers you will reply something like "..sup? " or "hmmm whatever man" or "man that pet is never gonna drop" something thats very vague to whatever anyone would whisper you.

2) Get multiple profiles and load them with ARELOG with a scheduler. Set it for 1hr each profile. Its much safer. Bot stays at A, moves to B and C and so on.

It?s likely oc not prooved they search botters with LPC now, so if your toon repeat the same path over and over again you?ll identified. Even if you babysit your bot. If you only want to make money to help your toon you could rush to lvl 70 very fast and than gather by hand. Better is with RAF. People offer gold etc if you help them with a free month.

Not true. They do not detect if the toon repeats the same path over and over. I myself have been running instance runs killing the same boss for almost 600 times already nonstop. The account is a $5 account and it has made way past its capital cost so I don't mind it getting banned but it hasn't been banned yet despite it repeating those movements for many days now.

I agree with this... I've not been banned and been using GB2 for days... Custom made profiles are the answer imo.

so whats left?
nothing that makes botting worthwile...

is anyone here botting without gb2+grinding? Maybe daylies?

I think if you bot "save" at the moment it only suffices the costs of RAF Gametime you buy vs gold O.o

Honorbuddy is dead, blizzard is actually talking a close look to everyone with a decent gold revenue

It does not matter if you watch the bot or not.

They're looking for bot-patterns, so don't overuse it, ever!

You can grind and farm, you can even grind and farm for hours on end, just don't send crazy amounts of mats through the in game mail to other chars and DO NOT spam the AH with your newly acquired ill-gotten gains. I know a few people that use HB to farm and grind on a daily basis and the difference between them and the people whining on here about banned accounts is what they do after they get the mats.

I can find the "ARELOG" but cant seem to find a auto reply addon...
Any help on that part?

Where do you get $5 accounts that are MoP playable? lol.

I don't, those accounts were bought during the pre 5.2 Sale. They are just battlechest accounts. I don't bot MOP as the capital cost is too high to my liking.

Do not be scammed by Blizzard during their "$10" sales. Battlechests are ALWAYS $10.

Lazyraider, Arch, Questing
Botting will get you banned if your a retard, i simply said doing the stuff that people could potentially report you for, that could be obvious for example bgbuddy or grinding same mob over and over in same loop is pretty damn suspicious, no ?

be smart, be sensible, if your going to gb2 - then do it for a short while and check no one else is on same path as you and for love of god dont post 101 auctions straight after of everything, hide some in mail of an alt or guild bank for example.

I sell about 100k a day, from the same account, to chinese people.. And that account is 2 years old, never as much as a warning. What's your idea of a "decent gold revenue"?

100k per day is a very nice value.
grats.

but how long did it take you to set up such a decent botting system? (honorbuddy, relogger, shuffling?, guild, profiles, ....)
and which bots you use?

if i want to restart i am really afraid of the time i have to spend ;) nowadays i would need a completely different setup compared to the one i used many months (and very successful...)
one wrong step and i am banned again.

and actually it is difficult to gain information here about "new ways" to bot with honorbuddy. Of course only few want to share because the more it is used the faster blizzard reacts...

thats the sad thing about it :/

so actually i put the last bit of my "botting energy" into D3

Yes.

No, it's not. But there's a huge difference between botting 30 hours nonstop, while _not_ watching the bot (aka being stupid, or, let's call it careless) and taking care, watching the bot constantly (I usually run it on a second or third screen), chatting ingame regularly, and of course stopping the bot every now and then, doing some things manually, breaking the movement patterns and - of course - stepping in if the bot has a hiccup of whatever kind. Knowing the bot, know the parts you better do manually, and know when to bot. "Bot smart" may be read pretty often, but I doubt a lot of people really know what that means.

Botting doesn't mean you don't have to take care, it doesn't mean you can _play_ a game (!) whilst being constantly away, without bearing the consequences. It doesn't mean you can leave your brain down the drain, unless you're using an account you don't give a shit about. Very simple, eh?
