Well i doubt most people would take it so far, and if people wanna annoy people to the point they get stalked they would be on a fake B - net, for me the biggest issue would be on my fave accounts, because i would probably end up making some friends ingame and then they would be able to see all my alt level bots.

I know you guys think I'm all contrary, but just think about this controversy for a second...
A vast majority of people don't even read the forums let alone post on them...
Nowhere in Battle.net or WoW is your real name revealed automatically to the world without your permission...
You are paying a subscription for a game, which happens to include a discussion forum about the game, but the forum isn't necessary for the game, at all...
RealID is for people who want to play more than just single Blizzard game with certain friends. You can still be friends with people in WoW, you can still be friends with people in real life, and you can be friends with people in WoW and real life without revealing your real name in Battle.net or WoW. This is so you have the option to let certain people know what you are doing. It also lets you communicate with them without logging into the game. So maybe when you need a Monk for your Act III in Diablo III and you see that your friend is just camping Dalaran you can ping them and see if they want to play Diablo III instead.
Unfortunately this also means that they are making another attack on our community with this, but that happens. From a legitimate gameplay aspect this is going to be nothing but a boon to the people who use it. From a botting, trolling, flaming, macroing, exploiting, and all the other grey or black areas are all going to be a little less safe and anonymous. We can work around it and we will for these areas, but what Blizzard is doing makes good business sense. The amount of time and effort they will save on having to moderate the forums so much is probably pretty big. Plus all those forum trolls and such push actual players away from participating.
I like RealID, I like that they are forcing real names on the forums in order to establish accountability. For what the forums are for, I think this will only help improve the conversation and community on the official WoW forums. What its not going to do is allow people to go on murderous rampages because they got ganked. People like that will find a way to find you regardless...
You hand way more revealing information to complete strangers every time you hand your CC to a gas station attendant, waiter/waitress, ect...If you don't like it, then don't use it...just like the game itself...if you don't like it or the way its being run then don't play it.

Let me put it this way. If I voluntarily hand my CC to a cashier then I do so by my own choosing, same with using the card at the gas pump. There is a certain amount of trust in dealing with paying a business, of course there are those types that phish information for illegal purposes, but still a certain amount of trust is involved. With blizzard releasing people's first and last names it makes identity more available then it should be. I am a big privacy advocate, if I wanted people to know my real name, where I live, what I do for a living I would express it to the world. The fact is I don't and I shouldn't be forced by blizzard to use my real name for a game that I play to relax.
There is always the ending argument if you don't like it, don't play it. That is not a valid argument, why should I just walk away from a game that I have invested time in because the people at blizzard can't control their forums. A better solution would be to just shut down the forums and do away with the mods and make the company more money. In the end I don't think it's a valid point of releasing people's real names just to get their forums in order.

I don't think that about you at all. As you said in the case of a CC you control who and when you give out the information. The same exactly true with the RealID. You choose when to give out that information. You only give it to the people that you RealID or when you post on the forums. Neither of these things are directly related to the game. So neither is required to play the game. All they are required for is being a part of the side community on the forums or if you WANT to share the info with certain friends.
This isn't a point for discussion for Blizzard. They didn't say hey were doing this because we think you will like it, come try it out. They said we are changing this, if you post on the forums be aware that its going to behave differently. Its no different then Blizzard saying they are making all Rogues fart butterflies every time they FoK. Some people will hate the change and quit playing, but most people will accept the fact that Blizzard changed the game and move on. It's really no different. This isn't a slippery slope...they aren't going to require you to play the real "you" in game. This is accountability to being a member of their forum fanbase, nothing more.
