Hey guys. Got someone's IB toon in a lvl 50 random (Dire Maul) the other day on Duskwood US server... Whoever was using it was obviously AFK because he had no chats, no responses to instructions (I was tank) and was not performing as a human being should. Strange movements and stuff. Kept itself perfectly centered within the group at all times. The tiniest movement from another toon brought about a strange left-right-forward-backward dance from this toon as it recentered itself. It needed on every single item it could. Toon was a shammy if I remember right, and he was rolling need on EVERY item that it could, including non-shammy gear. There was a necklace that dropped and I rolled need on it as it was a major upgrade for my tank (decent +STA gear for my shitty low +STR gear). He needed on it and won. No biggie. Out of curiosity I checked his gear and the necklace was a bigtime downgrade for what he was wearing. Asked a couple times if I could pay a gold or two to get it from him, no response. He never equipped the necklace. Someone in the group said something about "this new bot that they are using to do instances".
If it were just me, I'd have let it slide, but when the bot thing was mentioned I scoffed it off and just called the guy some names and said something about him probably being chinese and not understanding the english text. Someone in the group voted for a kick and he was gone.
So twofold; first, is there a way to set an option to tell the bot to "greed" instead of "need" on everything, to avoid situations like that? If that can't be done, is there a way to try and set it to determine if the item is even worthwhile to your class so it can try and make a need/greed decision? I don't care about the item, but it was almost painfully obvious that something was definitely not right with that toon.
Secondly, awareness is growing of HB/IB, and it is being talked about openly in game by players, at least it appears that way. Not really asking what can be done on that front, just keeping the community informed. That was a serious bad call on that guy's decision to run IB AFK, if he had just been there to respond to chats and stuff people would have just laughed it off as a noob or something.
