So when you get banned, you'll receive an email about it, ofc you won't beable to login to that game you were banned on but any other games on your battlenet account will still be playable, so if you get banned on D3 you can still play WoW

Here this might help a bit more.
If and when you get banned you will not be able to log into Diablo 3 on that account. You do have a few options.
1. You can purchase D3 again and start with a new bnet account.
2. You can purchase D3 again and attach it to your old bnet account.
If you go with option two, which I've done before, be warned that people believe that your account will be flagged and closely monitored again for botting. While I cannot confirm or deny this claim I will say that I got banned on my account, went out and bought another copy of D3, and started botting again with the same account. I haven't been banned yet, but if you're going to bot then you should just realize that at some point you will be banned.
And for your other question, if you get banned, all of your characters will be lost since they were associated to that account. If you buy another copy of D3 and attach it to your existing account, you will not have access to your banned characters. They are basically dead, for all purposes and intent.

I've heard that some peeps that got banned went for some sort of claiming or appealed Bliz in order to get their account back. Some apparently got a 3 days ban, or some got the account back. Not all of them of course.
My question is, what happens if you claim your account back, and/or you get a "light" ban for a couple of days? Assuming you were "not botting", will you get all your characters and items the same way you had before the ban?
