From OC:

An opcode named SMSG_EnableHonorbuddyDetection have been added into the WoW client since the early 5.3.0 PTR patches, if the server send it, the WoW Client receive it and will add a "jmp" into FrameScript_Load to hook the calls to that function. The check range is recursivly n + 1, so FrameScript_LoadBuffer must be not safe, but I'm not sure about this part.

if the function is call from somewhere else than the .text of FrameScript_LoadBuffer, it will send back data to Blizzard servers and flag you "using Honorbuddy" for a banwave mostly.

This paquet has been started to be active since yesterday, on 17055 build. It was off all the rest of the time.

To avoid a detection, you can either have a good anti-warden and keep using it (as the paquet received are really rare... maybe it's done by "if you are online more than 10hours, you receive it", I don't know when they send it exactly, but for sure, not everytime).

Or you can simply stop to use both of that functions FrameScript_LoadBuffer and FrameScript_Load.

HB used to use this function FS_Load for direct access to LUA return of values.

example
var myVar = FS_Load("return UnitHealth()");

rather than :
FrameScript_ExecuteBuffer("HP = UnitHealth()");
var myVar = FrameScript_GetLocalizedText("HP");

interesting, would like to know myself if this is true =D

Honestly I would expect the Dev team to know this well before you figured it out ... If not , you should send in an "application" :cool:

We are already aware of this function and have been discussing it all day.

We wouldn't have released a build if it were any danger.

Blizzard has probably been waiting to implement some form of better detecting the bot for quite some time now, if they haven't already tried recently. The full details of honorbuddys security is obviously not going to be revealed as it could compromise something. However that doesn't say they are fully aware of this but the validity of just "From OC" can be taken with a grain of salt. Most of don't have a complete understanding of all of the variables to this so it's best for a swift and decisive answer to this and theorys should be taken elsewhere (not aimed at your post).

Edit: And there we go, the forum gods have spoken before me.

And I doubt they're going to explain how they worked around it, expect for the fact that they basically worked around it.

I have to say this would seem a credible third party verification of why raphus says they assumed HB was being targeted directly.. wouldn't it? Of course we don't really know who haxxtastic is. I liked this post alot! anyone with some patience even if they arent a programmer could answer half the questions about a tripwire if they spent 5minutes figuring out what that stuff actually means.

good post!

I got a 72 hour suspension 3 days ago after 4 years of using hb, I must say it was a little strange I was leveling my herb, for about 20 minutes then dc and suspended, I had not used hb that much for a while, but they told me they detected the botting in my last session.

ofcourse honorbuddy is safe or els they wouldnt release a beta build and test build:)

i think nearly 99% members from this board have no idea what the post on OC means...
everyone just sees.. OMG SOMEHTING NAMED LIKE THE BOT I N S I D E W O W CODE??? OMG we're furkett
