How to run 10 bots on this system?

I can't seem to run 10 bots on this system, and I've read in other threads where people claim that they run over 10 easily on similar systems. So my question is how!?

With 10 bots, my cpu usage is 100%, my ram seems to be fine, but it's the cpu holding me back.

Okay before you all start flaming me for "not searching", let me say that I have read all the threads about this and I have tried just about everything. A lot of people in those threads are bragging about how they easily run 10+ bots on a similar system so I am wonder what I am doing wrong, because when I start running over 8 bots, DB starts to crash all the time and the fps goes down to around 10-11.

I've read the other threads, and people say that they run over 10+ but they don't really explain how, other then tell you to edit d3prefs. So I will list all the things I have already tried, and maybe people who have missed out anything can add that into their config.

My system:

Intel i5 3570K CPU Overclocked to 4.2G
GA Z77X-D3H Motherboard Intel Z77 Chipset
16G DDR3 Kingston 1600mhz
120G Kingston SSD + 2TB Seagate SATA3 7200rpm
2G Geforce GTX 670 PCI Express 3.0 256bit
Windows 8 64 bit

DB 304
Trinity 1.7.2.10
Rrrix's YAR - Turn off stats, chews up a lot of cpu.

Trinity settings:

With these settings trinity becomes pretty dumb, which can slow down runs if your running a squishy monk.
TPS modification: 5
Cache refresh: 200

D3prefs:

View attachment D3Prefs-One.txt

All settings on low.

LimitForegroundFPS "1"
MaxForegroundFPS "15"
LimitBackgroundFPS "1"
MaxBackgroundFPS "15"
DisableTrilinearFiltering "1"
MipBias "10.000000"
HardwareClass "1"

I also use isboxer/innerspace, which allows me to run diablo at 80x60 resolution (yes thats correct 80x60).

I've updated graphics driver to latest, changed all settings to maximize performance.

I've tried shutting down all non-essential services, even shutting explorer and dvm.exe (but that prevents YAR from restarting DB).

So how the hell do you guys run 10bots or more?

If Blista was still around he could give you some great info. I'd search for a thread or post by him because I believe he had a link in his sig about running that many bots on one pc.

I may be wrong but I wanted to throw my 2 cents in. Good luck!

Edit - Found the thread (below) but it isn't exactly what I thought it was, might still have some good info though.

thanks, after reading that I think it is just a problem with my system, seems like people can't get more than 8 with a i5 cpu, and thats what I am experiencing too

Mipbias max is 9.999999. If you set it to 10, I heard it would act as if you were using 0 and therefore using max level graphics. Never tried setting it to 10, do you notice any difference in graphics? When set to 9.999999 the difference is blatant. Spectrum-like pixels and such.

Set cache refresh to 400.Set Tps to 8, anything under that and you'll lose IPH and GPU for the wrong bot behaviour.

Are you sure isboxer allows you to run diablo at 80x60? It will allow you to set the game-screen size you want, but I thought the game resolution will be 800x600 minimum, in each screen for each game.

My sistem is similar, slightly better, with a 3770k oc to 4500 and gtx680 gpu, and I run 12 bots. 13 on is continuous 100% cpu usage, a inducing lag on the bots.So 12 is the maximum for me, it keeps going from 60-95 cpu with huge spikes when db is doing town routine.

Another small fix for a lower cpu usage is just to disable every number in screen, and the last I can think of disabling every trinity log.

Good luck!

I used to use mipbias 9.999999, then I heard the max was 10, so I tried both and there wasn't much of a change either way. At 80x60, I can't even tell what it looks like anyway lol.... To make it truly 80x60 with isboxer, you have to change your diablo settings to "windowed fullscreen", then isboxer can trick diablo into thinking that your monitor is a lot smaller then it is.

I will try some of the settings you have suggested, and let you know how it goes!

Just to make sure we are talking about the same, you mean that in every screen of diablo 3 the resolution set by isboxer is 80x60, or you mean that you can make the windows really small? Like this:

In this ss , windows are really small but every game window has 800x600 resolution, you mean you can trick the game into using 80x60 ????

yes if you have isboxer already, just change your d3prefs - windowsmode "2", and change the resolution, let me know if it reduces your performance by a lot, you will also notice that it becomes very fuzzy

I changed tps to 8 and cache refresh 400, turned off all trinity logs. Seemed to have freed up some resources.

Also a big change was turning off stats in rrrix's new YAR, that seemed to free up quite a bit of resources too.

Now I am able to run 9 bots.

I'm trying EVERYTHING to get the CPU load down.... lol

I'm using buddystats, anyone know how much this plugin would be using? Can't imagine it would be much, but I wonder if turning it off would give me much back.

Wow, it actually works. You dont even need to use Isboxer, Yar apocd3starter will also do it perfectly. It seems to have improved performance, or it could be a mirage due to my interest in lowering cpu usage.

It would be great if other multibotters could check by themselves, you might have discovered a new way (at least for me) to reduce cpu usage. What I've been experiencing is about a 10% lower total usage with all 12 bots on. I could try 13 now, probably.

This is a ss with the new d3prefs and windowsmode:

It would be also useful if some mod could confirm that using it with this setup wouldn't have any ugly consequence with Db, since I remember to read somewhere that Db needed D3 to be run in windowed mode.

I have been doing this for awhile and it doesn't seem to have any adverse affects on DB.

Since it does work, I mean I am running everything on lowest possible settings. YET I still can't run 10 bots smoothly :(

It would be good to know what bottleneck you're suffering. Have you tried gpu id to check your gpu % usage? Don't think that's the problem, since a gtx 670 should be more than capable to run 10+ especially with the awful looking settings.
I already mentioned, but getting rid of all the numbers also helps, just disable all the show healing numbers, show crit numbers, show whatever numbers in d3 options.

Or it could also be this is the limit for your cpu. If you are good at computers you could try to assign diferent cpu's for each process. I tried and it was a complete disaster, but It could probably be I'm terrible at tweaking it.

well, i went further and put 20x15, and it worked, can't see shit but it doesn't sem to lessen cpu usage for me.
it's all about the cpu usage spikes, no matter the game resolution.

That is right, you've gotta use betweem 6.999999 and 9.999999. And yes, 800 x 600 in D3prefs works just fine, you don't need Isboxer. It only changes the visual resolution of the game window, not the game resolution itself.
OP, i am pretty sure you are squeezing the maximum out of your i5 cpu. Just look at the percentage use with the maximum numbers of games. If it goes near or is 100% flat, then this is your bottleneck. Should that be the case, there's hardly anything you can do to work around that. I am assuming your CPU is overclocked to the maximum you were able to OC it with the CPU being stable. So, if temperature is what prevents you from going higher frequencies, you can try to hardware mod your CPU and use high end CPU cooler & TIM, then overclock some more. Or you can just get an i7 3770K, since you've already got the MOBO for it.

Hope i was able to help.

I wouldn't recommend trying to delid just to fit 1 more bot in. Try to use common sense.

I did notice a difference when I went from 800x600 to 80x60, I did try further 40x30 but did not notice any added difference. Also you have to make sure it's windowmode 2.

Why not, it is a simple procedure and it fixes a big production flaw of these CPUs.. it is worth doing not only to fit one more bot, but in general. It will also prolong the life of the CPU, as it gets too hot cuz of the shitty TIM the cheap asses at Intel used.
