How do you manage 1 main account and 1 bot account on same computer?

it gives you the option to select which process to attach to... and honestly, no matter how you do it, if you're at the same IP as the bot and do things that get you reported, you won't be safe regardless of any VM or anything else.

the "well they can't base it on IP because..." argument is invalid because they DO base it on IP.

sure, they might need to look at login times interactions etc. to connect the two, but even if that's difficult for them to do based on you trying your hardest to hide, look around the forums: there are many people who got banned (and then reversed the ban by Calling and pleading ignorance of any hacks or w/e).

the best way to bot is just like everything else in life: moderation (and in botting's case monitoring). just keep an eye on the bot. don't 100% afk, perhaps chat with people on that client. but the biggest thing I have to ask for "don't have any connections" is why are you botting? I bot to support my main account with funds and resources. I'd say gold selling on same IP raises a much higher risk.

Now, after all of that discussion on best practices of not being banned on the main account, I have to confess: my bot is on my same battlenet and i often afk with it... Balls: Grow them

Theres no risk just start the botting wow and HB first so it attaches straight away and then start your wow IF your worried about that.
They cant detect HB attached I'm pretty sure so it shouldnt matter.
Blizzard also DOES NOT ban by IP and DOES NOT ban any accounts that have not been botted with or had interaction with botting.

TL;DR: You are perfectly safe just don't trade or have any connections between the accounts to be safe.

like i said before, Keep the main account completely separate from your botting accounts, do not trade gold, use it as a mule etc etc, and you are fine. you can get 100's of accounts banned from botting and have the same name, adress.. w/e and if you keep your main account 100% separate, that account will never get banned.

I'd say gold selling on same IP raises a much higher risk.

+1

If you take a look through the bans section you will see a number of reoccurring themes,

1. long botting duration on the one character
2. selling gold

I have botted my farming account 24/7 for more than 2 years. It has 6 characters on it, that i cycle throughout the day for 2 or 3 hour periods. The whole point is, to be as inconspicuous as possible. No one gives a rats arse about seeing someone farming mats, you are just another player doing his own thing, but they do care when they see you 30 times every single day. That is when you get reported, blizz looks into you, then you get the ban hammer.

Play it smart, make your actions look as normal as possible, farm on the one toon for few hours at most, thats all a normal person does. Make your own profiles, add in some random detours too, dont just follow the path that gives the highest nodes per hour, who cares if you get 200 nodes or 180 nodes per hour, fly to the peak of some mountain and land, go to some other random spot, fly over the parts of the map where nodes are less prolific, you know, all those things that will mean you avoid as many people as possible.

And remember, GREED is your biggest enemy, if you dont need gold, stop farming for a few days. If i am not spending, i make maybe 10-20K per week, if i have just spent a ton, i make that per day, just be smart in what you do, and you will be as safe a you can be.

I think what I have been most concerned about (and why I use a vm for the bot) is concurrently running bot and main on the same computer at the same time.

I realize the bot is the only process HB is attached to - but It's kind of scary to me running a botted account one window over from my main.

Everyone will say blizz can't detect the process running, and they will only hit the account with the botted activity...but I'm just too paranoid.

Thanks to everyone who shares that they do this differently -and have done so successfully for quite some time.
