How do you know if your AH competition is a bot and how do you deal with them?

I don't use an AH bot (mostly because I've read a few of the bans that claimed it was from AH botting). I take about 1-2 hrs per day reposting my auctions and 1-4 other bros seem to be insta undercutting me. I see 1-2 in particular with an <Away> tag in the auction house, moving around once in awhile to undercut. Any of you know tricks to find out if they're legit taking the time to undercut me or botting me out of the market hah. Also, do any of you have tips for when you're in this type of situation (like maybe shoot them a whisper/mail and try to collaborate in some way)? Thanks!

edit: For some reason, people assume I want to report this player. I DO NOT want to report anyone. Just trying to find out if there's any type of loose etiquette for this type of situation or if you just shrug it off. Again, thanks =)

You don't do anything, you don't deal with it. You silently co exist.

1 bot is not even close to supply the mats needed for the entire server.
If you confront him, it will more likely become a flame war, then you or him click the report button, then blizz will investigate, figure out another way to track a bot and the entire community world wide will suffer.

Yo Korean, I have to agree with Kav, although in a nicer manner. I wouldn't try reaching out to them just incase they rage face / report you. I'd say keep at it and maybe try selling other things. I battle with the same thing sometimes and I just switch it up and try to find mats to sell that they aren't. Also try posting your stuff an hour before peek playing times (roughly 5pm - 10pm on most servers). Even if you get undercut at that time, raiders gobble up mats pretty quickly. So you still have a chance of selling your goods after the ones that undercut yours sold. Hope that helps brotha.
 
Yeah man thanks for the tip Hall. To Kav and bot, I was just putting questions out there to see what, if ANYTHING, others did. I would NEVER report anyone, I've shot whispers at other botters when they're stuck, hoping they get the alerts on whisper to check on their shit and fix it. While I appreciate what good advice you threw at me, kav, the other shit that you wrote based on assumptions for what my intentions are were unnecessary. Again, thanks for what useful information was in your response.

I think this is why we see AH bots getting banned for the most part ..One player gets fed up with the competing bot and just reports him ..just my opinion though
 
I could see it, it's frustrating. Especially if they left their bot at the AH ALL day and undercutting down to ridiculous lows hah. Luckily for me these guys are only ne 1/2 to 3/4 of the day =p

Haha jeez. Well I wanted this thread to be for some good, maybe end up answering questions for more than just myself but for others that may wonder the same thing down the line. Wasn't intended for harsh comments! Anyway, if anyone else has tips, they're more than welcome =)
 
You know that if you report them you will get looked into likely aswell.

Anyways I don't see how you can blame them for botting when you're doing it aswell may it be on a smaller scale but that's no reason for this.

If you can't handle the competition then don't sell anything on the ah.
 
Again, not complaining, just wanted to put this out there and ask what, if anything at all, you guys with more experience than me do in this type of situation. If someone was to say, "nothing, it's just part of that game," no worries, roger I got it. You make it seem like I'm mad at this guy or have something against him, I don't, it makes me happy when other "buddies" are getting their gold on. Just wanted to know if there was some loosely established etiquette for this type of situation. Think I've said this a couple times now, maybe I need to edit my OP to further emphasize this lol.

Jeeze, people need to learn to read... I'm 9,000,000% sure the original post says NOTHING about reporting anyone...
 
Since most bots aren't smart, you can spam their mailbox with Alterac Swisss or fill their mailbox with junk... but they'll probably just sell it.

Again, don't like it then make your own AH Bot which can detect other bots and doesn't undercut them.

Haha that's hilarious. Not trying to piss anyone off, he was there before me and all but that's funny shit. Will hold on to that in case someone sends me some hate mail. Thanks for the tips.
