How do profiles work?

So I'm new to HB and GB and haven't botted since I used glider. So I've got the bot running fairly well using public profiles here. I'm a bit confused as to how profiles work with this.

Some seem to use waypoints, and some seem to use hotspots. Is it the opening tag on the xml file that tells the bot what kind of profile it is?

Ive seen some profiles on here that start with <GlideProfile> and use waypoints, which is interesting to me. Does this mean they are old glider profiles and they use waypoints?

And is there much of a difference between HB and GB profiles? I've only tried HB so far and am planning to buy lifetime eventually.

Gatherbuddy : Uses a "Simple" waypoints navigation system, you make the profiles by recording a "path" using GB itself and can be edited later on using EditPatrol.
Honobuddy : there are 2 types of profiles, Questing profile and Grinding profiles. Both of them use a special set of profiletags that are made for HB.

Gatherbuddy profiles are quite simple and easy to use.
Honorbuddy profiles though, can get really complicated depending on how you make them.
It uses "hotspots" rather than simple "waypoints", think of hotspots as a big circle that the bot will kill the mobs at.
It also uses vendors and mailboxes.
And unlike "other" bots, you can level from 1 to 60 using a single file that includes different spots at each few levels.
It uses a Navigation system made by MaiN that allows the bot to auto-find it's way around the gameworld. So you don't have to worry about recording anything with HB :)

There are a few guides around for HB and GB profile creation, check the guides section out :)

Thanks, I guess I was just a little confused on how Honorbuddy and Gatherbuddy use different types of profiles. I'm much more accustomed to the GB type of profiles, guess I'll have to read up some more on the HB ones. Reminds me a lot of Pather from glider back in the day.

They were trying to keep in the "home" feel of the PPather when making the profile system, it is a little different, but does bring back memories of it ;)
