How are people gathering and not getting banned?

Just curious.. i haven't in a while.. had a friend just get banned... But from what i hear its extremely likely to get banned whilst gathering nowadays. Has anyone here successfully avoided the ban hammer whilst bringing in a large sum of money?
 
Never using the same privately generated profile more than once for too long with the same computer, IP, MAC as your other bots. I'm not sure if even then that will save you.
 
Just be smart. . .

You should NEVER leave a bot unattended. Just keep an eye on it every so often so it isn't stuck or people aren't whispering you, etc.
 
Asides from arenas, I mainly use HB for gathering. I've only received one ban and it was overturned in 5 minutes. You have to use the character for other things though. I have it gather for about 3 hours until my bags are full while I am at work. Then I come home and play a few bgs or do a random and then back to gathering. Safest in my opinion but not absolute.
 
I honestly think it depends on what you are farming. I have had my guy gathering for 10 hours at a time for a week straight on US servers and never even had a whisper or anything.
 
Really u its as said before all about being smart about it. Dont farm one zone for hours on end with the same character. Your biggest enemy is players. If they can figure out what you are your screwed. So naturally someone who's trying to farm a little ore for themselves sees you snatching up all the nodes every time they come by well then it pretty obvious. I recently made a profile that farmed x amount of certain ores then moved on to next zone and so forth n did one for skinning. I got mats from both new and old expansions. I ran this on 12 accounts 12+ hours a day for over a month never got banned (not saying that's a long time just my most recent example) I also made my own profiles for everything I dont use other profiles posted to the site.

Only whispers I got were because my Skinners were being dicks stealing from everyone else :p

Luck. Everyone is avoiding the hammer until there the nail caught sticking up. You can take steps to lower the possibility though. Logmeout,AvoidPlayers,Teamviewer.
 
...erm, well i had been using the farming bots for shy of a year...monitored them every hour just to make sure i wasn't being whispered etc...the one day i dont, my character is stuck in a rock set...continues to mount repeatdaly...and i get caught, reported and banned...
