I've read all of the forum posts of users getting this similar issue:

"Error trying to save settings file 'GlobalSettings.xml' while creating temporary file: The file exists."

I've turned off McAfee real-time scanning, turned off Windows Defender real-time scanning, am running HB in Administrator mode, have uninstalled, rebooted, deleted the "Settings" folder, re-installed under C:\utils, re-installed under C:\Users, etc., and still it won't write out most of these .xml files.

Most of these other forum posts ended with Tony messaging people over a screensharing program, but would be nice to know the exact things they fixed so other users could debug their system too. Help!

You are a genius, thanks!

Clearing *ALL* files from my C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp folder on Windows 7 completely solved the issue. I had run the Windows Cleanup utility earlier (thinking it would do this for me) and was still receiving the error, but going into the folder and manually deleting everything has fixed it.
