So I am new to boting and honorbuddy. So read this review with that in mind.

The main reason I got the bot is to level characters. Ive been playing since BTC and have gone through the content too many times. I do however still want more classes to pvp with so I figured this was the easiest way to level my characters.

The PVP Bot:

It sucks. Expect to have the deserter buff as much as you dont have it. Not sure whats happening there but I did not find this service practical for levelling. It required way too much oversight. The only time I really use the PVP bot is if Alterac Valley or IOC comes up (I play Horde and these two maps are dominated by Alliance). Also if my team is getting a thrashing I will put the bot on and go do something else. So for stuff like that I found it useful. For levelling I did not find it useful.

The Dungeon Bot:

I found this almost completely useless. My character is always getting stuck and if you are playing a healer class it makes a terrible healer. I dont use this at all.

The questing bot:

I suppose this I find the most useful. It actually gets me decent levels on my characters but also seems the least likely reason for your bot to get busted. The problem with this like anything to do with this bot is you have to babysit it. Every 2 or 3 hours it sticks on some random part of the map (This is using kicks profile). So dont think you can just leave your bot running over night and hope it will be 20 levels up the next day. You will get 3 or 4 levels (at level 30) and then it will stick somewhere. Despite having to babysit the bot the whole time I find this the most useful setting.

I dont use the gathering bot and I dont use the grind bot. When I looked in the forums at the primary reasons people get the banhammer its because they are level grinding or gathering.

As I said, I am a noob, so if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.

All in all, the questing bot allows me to continue with my real job while my character levels so there is definitely value for money here for me.

Your experiences are a good summary. Thanks for sharing.

Indeed the fastest way to get banned is 1) PvP/Battlegrounds, and 2) careless use of Gatherbuddy2, in that order. The bot itself is not detected, but server-side mechanisms make it too easy to report or fingerprint the behavior used in these activities.

"Stuck" issues have nothing to do with the questing profile--those are navigational issues. If you have a screenshot and coordinates for the "stuck", you should report them to the Navigation thread. The coordinates define 'where' the stuck occurs, and the screenshot shows 'how'. The 'how' tells the mesh maintainers what kind of fix to put in place. Stucks happen much more in questing profiles, because you are literally visiting most of the world while executing them. Nothing else gives you more opportunities to get stuck than a questing profile--such is their nature.

If you want to AFK level, relatively safely, you might try Botanist's Pangaea profile. It is a questing profile that performs only grinding, and is supposed to be very 'stuck free'. Pangaea is not near as risky as a 'normal' grinding profile, because it switches up areas relatively frequently, and goes to new areas as your level changes.

Sorry for being a dimwit but I am trying to understand something. I loaded something called :

[QO][1-85]_raf-auto-loader(I assume thats the levelling profile). Is this a questing profile? Because I loaded it and it wants me to go to:

[25-37] Razorfen Kraul

Which I understand is a dungeon? So do I go stand in that dungeon to start or do I go stand at its entrance? A little confused. Perhaps I picked the wrong guide and this is a dungeon guide? In that case should I change from questing to Dungeonbuddy?

Razorfen Kraul is indeed a dungeon. I'm don't know where you got the profile package you're trying to use. But, the instructions for proper use of it should be in the first post of the thread.

Kick's profiles usually have his name in the tag. E.g., "[A - Quest] 1-12 Auto-Loader [Kick]" or "[H - Quest] 1-12 Auto-Loader [Kick]".

I'm going to guess you got that out of Botanist's profile pack. Dungeons are usually used in one of two ways:
  • Farmed by high-level toons that can solo them.
    The toon's interest is usually for transmorg gear, or rep.

  • Using a level 90 tank to 'boost' lower-level toons.
    The tank kills the mobs while the lower-level toons just stay near enough to him to get credit for the kills.
Botanist's Pangaea was original just a grinding profile set. But later, he tossed in the "other assorted dungeons" part. You may have to dig a little and read through his thread to find the original Pangaea grinding profile pack.

Welcome! Don't get discouraged. When I was a noob I remember being so paranoid when I was running the bot that my wife would say "What is the difference between you playing and you sitting there watching it play itself?" The way HB works today is this... It's safe. BUT you have to bot smart! If you let it run non stop you will get banned. You have to set it up like a human. 8-12 hours a day when lvling with breaks. Questing is the safest way to go but I'm sorry, no matter who's profiles you use they won't be fully afk-able. I HIGHLY recommend using Kick's or Cava's questing profiles with the LogMeOut plugin at the least. It is a fantastic plugin. That is the best way to start. Take your time, be patient, read read read the forums and you will be fine. Best of luck and I hope this helps. Also remember this is a bot that is used on a game that is constantly updated. So things in the bot break. HB is the best out there at trying to resolve these problems when they happen. But sometimes it takes time. Just be patient. After awhile of use you will see every dollar you spent will be sooooo worth it.
 
Thanks for the response. The logmeout plugin seems very useful. Normally before I go to bed I leave my questing on and when I wake up in the morning I have gone up a couple of levels and I am logged out. This morning I woke up and I noticed I was not logged out. Freaked a little on my side. I was sitting somewhere in the ocean just chilling.

So I can see how the logmeout button will help. Is the better navigation plugin worth installing?
 
I've never used it. So I can't help you there. The cool thing about LogMeOut is just that. I do the same as you when lvling. I check it when I wake up and if I got a few lvls great! If it logged out 10m after I started it, hey better safe than sorry. And the best part is it tells you what trigger was hit to log you out. NameNotifier is a good one too. Super simple. Saved me a number of times. My computer is in its own room, so I turn all sounds off in wow, turn the speakers way up and go watch tv in another room. Someone whispers me and DING! I hear it no problem. Just gotta roll my fat a$$ off the couch and go see who is trying to talk to me.
 
Heres my impression of the bot.

I use the Bot mainly to level chars through Questing and Bgs. I would say 80% / 20%. I also use Gatherbuddy but just to level my skill. I don`t farm MoP Herbs and ores. I have leveled several chars from 85-90 and a few from 0-90. The Bot is 100% not AFKable! It gets stuck during quests, gets stuck at the pickup/turning in sequence, Mixed mode is basicall useless, because its gonne crash one of the both bots after a while.

I have tried dungeonbuddy.... Using it in random groups is just stupid, you can also name your toon "Plzreportme".

Anyhow. HB is still the best bot out there. It basically works, if you have an eye on your toon and use a logout program that detects stucks etc it is pretty usable. A while ago I really enjoyed using BGbuddy, but now, there are almost no good pvp routines out there or the developers are kind of pissed of the police in the forum here and don`t publish them here anymore. The BGbuddy itself is kind of stupid. It doesn`t make sence to use it without plugins. It absolutely is not random at all. At the beginning of a Bg I can tell which of the other players use Bgbuddy because the all do the same and walk the same waypoints. For example in the Mine. The start running, jump down the edge, turn around and walk back a few steps and then run to the middle.... So I don`t use it anymore.

Gatherbuddy itself might be detected. If not, every player can tell if someone uses GB2, because it just moves like a robot. Most of the bans around here happen because of GB2. Eaven if you bot very smart, just 30 min a day, as soon as someone sees you, that knows how a bot acts, he can report you. Next time you farm, a GM will watch you and ban U. So I don`t use GB2 AFK. (Anyhow I just tried a differen Bot for gathering that uses all the GB2 profiles, holy sh... that bot does an awesome job. Runs as smooth as a player, ignores nodes with other players close to it, just awesome)


What really works with HB is using it for Raids and dungeons manually. Botbases like Tyrel, Raidbot, Combatbot. They work really good, if U find a good routine for your class.


So in my oppinion:

Grind Buddy -welcome to the next banwave
Archeology -Not tested
BGBuddy- Stupid using it AFK. Needs more paths, Random paths, advanced stuck management.
Combat Bot - Works, but never figured out whats the difference between Combat and Raidbot
Dungeonbuddy - Might work if you only run dungeons with your own chars or other people that already know ur botting. Otherwise welcome to the next banwave
GB2 Works, but welcome to the next banwave if you bot somewhere where someone can see u.
Grindbot - welcome to the next banwave
Mixed Mode - Doesn?t work really well. Gets stuck after a while and then will only run one of both bots. (its much better using hbrelog and define the two bots there)
Partybot - Crap. This would absolutely be awesome if both bots could communicate with eachother and wait for eachoter. If one char could run a questprofile and the other one would also pickup the quests and turns them in etc... But now, useless for me.
Professionbuddy - Basically nice bot, but sometimes just does crappy things like flying from northend to kalimdor (it doesn`t work, my bot tried it several times :-) And the UI is terrible.
Questing- Nice Bot, works fine, saves alot of time, but it rally needs to be watched and helped out at some places.
Raidbot - Nice



Now.... ok that sounds mostly negative. HB is ok, I could name thousends of points that could be better. but atm there are no better all in one bots out there. But HB really has to doe something and improve their bots.

I really look forward to the other Bot I have tried. The Idea behind it, the Interface, the features are so much better then HB. But atm the have almost no profiles and routines. But If they manage to get everything together, I think HB will loose alot of their Users... no Users, no Profiles, not routines, no new costumers, game over..... Thats my oppinion, please delete it if I broke any forum policies.
 
One more note to the named "logmeout" thing. Since it is a plugin, it will only work, if HB is working correctly. If Hb runs for a while it will start to freeze. That means that the profile will continue to run, but you cannot open anymore options or close hb or start or stop it. That happens to me on differen computers with clean installations.... If that happens logmeout also won?t work.
 
I'm sorry you're not having that great of an experience with the honorbuddy BG botbase, I think it works flawless but with melee classes.

You'll want to use the following plugins to enhance your experience,

Some classes don't have amazing custom routines but I suggest using TUANHA custom routines, clicking PvP and going to general tab and enabling "auto movement".

Of Course I have UltimatePVP and Iglue on my melee. I eaven have the paid Version of PVPsuite. Those 2 Plugins are absolutely awesome.

What should a PvP BG Botbase do? It should sign in for a bg and join the bg. Thats the simple part. From there on, all the botbase has to do is choose a point where to move to. Choosing an enemy is done by pvp suite. Movement around the enemy is done by the cc.


And that one point, basically the only big thing a bg bot has to do is so outdatet with bgbuddy. For example: Every Bot starts at exactly the same coordinates. If you see 5 other players standing at exactly the same spot at the beginning of the bg, you know they are bots. Very easy for someone to report you. Why isn`t it random? Make 10-20 startpoints, just 1 or 2 coordinates away and let BGbuddy pick one of them randomly.

Eots- bot runs down, moves to the first tower, waits exactly untill it is capped and then runs away. No matter if someone else is defending that tower or not. So your teammembers will start to flame u and have an eye on you. Why not wait a random ammount of time bevore leaving, if there is someone else around u?

Thats what I mean with "it is not random enough" . Bgbot for example is doing much better here. But it has some other bugs. But thats ok for me. Someone created that botbase for free. I payed for HB, so I wish I would see some improvement. But it is mostly the same since a year.


Anyhow, BGbuddy works and is ok. The biggest weakness is the beginning of a bg. That is where it is easy to recognise bots. Thats why I normally start the BG myself, move the first 10 sec manually and then start bgbuddy. That gives me 99% more security. And like I said.... I couldn`t find a alternative for BGbuddy yet that works better. (If you know one, feel free to pn me) so I still use it, but i wish some improvement.
