Honorbuddy Bans Statement

I wasn't talking about blizzard. Even if I were - the harder it makes it on them the better. We as customers deserve privacy from what is largely frowned upon and yet anyone can come poke around in here. Arguements for keeping the forums accessible to anyone? I know I don't have any.

In case it was missed - this was pointed at the general populace anyhow. Another bot which shall not be named, I am no longer a user (but was) and still have an account I can log into - but I can't read or post on select forums (until I resub which won't be happening ofc)

I SO AGREE WITH YOU!!!! check out how non-members can read the profiles for farming areas... SMFH. Sure privatizing our forum isn't 100% guarantee our safety.. but it doesn't hurt. I never understood why members argue against this easy feature.

cant agree more. at least some sections should be private.

sales and commercial bs.. people reading how it works is bs.. its all about the money then.

I 100% have to agree with some of the things people are saying...

An open active forum lends itself to sales and motivation for further development.

However, when somebody can see a map with the route planned out because the profile creator or Community Dev made a thorough post to help people... I see a major obstacle in the form of giving away too much information to the general public. At the very least a registration requirement and even a simple vetting process would go a long ways on a portion of the forums with the HB forums as a whole.

Just my 2c. It is a major decision which would require a lot of work to implement on such a large forum. However, if done properly it has little to no disadvantages.

Yup thats why I don't post much on these boards. I seen leaks from it posted on reddit and blizzard official forums for some time now.

I think, that it was some kind of patern search on Blizz end. Imho patern was Kicks leveling profile or GarrisonBuddy

This is my guess also. They took whats most popular and found easy to find problems with it and used it to their advantage. But again just a guess.

All sections should be private from guests. General and whatever else is necessary for registered users and everything else for paying users. I think it's really strange to have so much open to random viewers.

pattern search might work for quest grinding and other repetitive tasks but would not account for bans using cr raiding which strongly indicate bot software detection

It doesn't keep us logged in, plus it isnt hard to make an account...

with a ban for "exploitation of game mechanics" I tend to lean towards CR's (insane interrupts and quick casting are dead giveaways). I didn't PvP much, but I used the combat bot constantly. CR's are very noticeable no matter what you are using them for (PvP, LFG, or regular lvling/grinding).

There are many "small things" that even person can spot and tell who is using CR. Why use software detection, when you can detect bots with single SQL command?

On an unrelated note...anyone else have a huge patch now downloading for wow? You think it's 6.2 coming in after they've gotten rid of a bunch of people (does that even make sense)?
