Honorbuddy Bans Statement

Status
Not open for further replies.
Do you guys think Blizz has implemented a system like Warden to snoop through client side processes? Do you have any speculations as to how they made these decisions? Is it possible they made correlations between certain in game functions like the click to move? Most importantly, as more information is released will you further inform us? (How it was detected etc) Blizzard should thank you instead of hate you. I played the game much longer than I should have because of Honor Buddy. I've heard of leaks involving a new expansion pack so I assume they are hoping this 6 month ban will be enough time to get the banned excited about new content when it is announced. With that being said, I think they underestimate their leverage in the situation because without HB the game is shit. Plain and simple. There aren't enough players to keep everything going smoothly without the "extra help" provided through botting. Back when ore and herbs were 20 stacks and that was what I botted, I sold hundreds of stacks a week. Without these contributions the game will fall more. Thanks for all the work and any other games I play will be centered around what products are offered here.

besides the lack of punctuation and paragraphs: blizz is legally not allowed to scan other memory areas besides their own processes. the EFF held a court case about that back in vanilla, but they still use the same macro to scare ppl

Is this statement by Honorbuddy mean that they are giving up? I hope that Honorbuddy only takes a short breather to figure out what is going on with the intentions to continue on. I had 1 out of 10 accounts hit today because the other 9 were not used in the past few months. Sure do love raiding with the Taunha combat routines. Makes things a whole lot more enjoyable!!!

They get my money for the whole damn 6 months as I pay on a recurring subscription. DAMN you Blizz! I say start a suit here in the US of A. Think about it. BLizz gets our money so what is the big deal if we bot? Can anyone explain that to me? They GET our money! It's like me buying hair dye and then dying my dog's fur. What diff to Clairol? They got the money and it's not hurting the dog

Came across this on another website:

This is a message I got from support:

Okay - this is an extended suspension (six months), not a ban; there should have been an email sent out to you about it. We have added extended suspensions to accounts that we've been able to verify have been making use of automation software (botting) or have otherwise been cheating in the game.

*Edit, more response:

I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to discuss these cases further - this is one of the largest waves of bans and suspensions we've ever had, so our security team made absolutely sure that we were only banning people who were actually cheating. With that in mind we've been asked not to overturn any of these cases. The account will be playable again when the suspension expires in November

Wonder if anyone's been able to successfully appeal? My rejection was clearly automated.

It's been an honor being able to make scripts for HB :)
Anyways, on the account that was banned the only illegal botting was done by a leveler several continents away from me, I wonder if they'll take this into account.

yup here is what I got:

This is the latest response from Customer Support:
Hello,

Game Master Ralorendt here. I just received your ticket about your WoW account getting banned today. I can completely understand why that would be so frustrating or upsetting, especially if you didn't see it coming.

After another thorough investigation of your account I have come to the same conclusion: this penalty will not be amended or removed. You should've received an email regarding this penalty and outside of that there's not much additional information I can share with you about this situation. Here's a few common things that are against the rules, though: botting or using any program to control your character/abilities (whether that's farming herbs and ore, pvp, or raiding/dungeons), buying or selling gold, or modifying game files in some way, outside of regular addon use.

We understand that you may still have concerns regarding the action, but we must reiterate that it was taken to address a violation of the Terms of Use and End User License Agreement (Blizzard Entertainment:Blizzard Legal Documentation), which all players accept before logging into the game. Though these penalties may seem harsh, they are in place to ensure that every player is able to enjoy their time in our games. Thank you for respecting our position.

What does the “Answered” status mean?
- A ticket in “Answered” status means that a Customer Support representative has provided an answer to your ticket.

What can I do next?
- You can click “Need More Help” in-game, after you view the in-game response.
- Or, you can choose the “I still have a problem” option on the ticket detail page. Please note that if you choose this option, your in-game ticket will be converted into a web ticket. It will no longer be viewable in game, but will be visible on the Blizzard Customer Support web site instead.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please log in to the Blizzard Customer Support web site at <http://www.battle.net/support/> and reply to the ticket.

I ain't even mad. Not even going to appeal.

I quit during Panda and came back for WoD. Honorbuddy has been wonderful at making life easier playing the game. Thanks for the well-spent money on HB AND the plugins I actually paid for.

Also thanks to Blizzard for the 6 month ban. I get my life back again. Not even sure I'll go back in 6 months.

Life is good.
