HDD performance

I used to have all my bots on a ssd raid0 config. I moved them all onto a slave spinner cause I wanted my space back, but I've noticed that since I've done this, its lagging the shit outta my pc and freezing up sometimes. I did expect some performance degradation but this is almost unusable. For those of you running on spinners, is this normal or? Is there any kinda performance tweaks you would recommend for the hd? I already have everything d3 prefs wise, but as far as the hdd is concerned? Maybe something to do with them being copied folders of the original ssd installation and still referencing a d3prefs on the raid? Not sure, but it lags like absolute crap.

I moved 6 from the ssd raid to the spinner. It seems to be pushing the limit apparently, even though there's ton of space available, it's just too much read/write I guess.

Buy another cheap spinner and do 3 on each prob solved for way less money than another ssd

I use 1 ssd 64gb to run 10 copies...

whatever you are doing is fail... sry.. :(

The only fail I see is your reading ability. He wanted his ssd for other things and moved d3 to a spinner, his spinner obviously can't handle 6 copies. Now if he had said his ssd can't handle 6 copies your post would have some relevance.

d3 doesn't write anything at all and read very little of the hdd during play. most of the stuff is in the ram.
only if you don't have enough ram and you have to swap. than you have a bad time.
you can check your hdd write/read in taskmanager -> resource monitor

While boting 2 D3 my spinner is at 5% read/write not stressed at all, as far as i know D3 is loaded in the RAM. And does almost no read/write after 30 min to load everything of the zones your going to bot.

I run 5 bots on each HDD... All of my HDD are 7200 RPM and I'm having no issues.

You run 30 some bots though yah? What happens when you put more than 5 on each hdd? Or what led you to that partitioning? That's also such a tiny amount of space for each hd, 60gigs or so is 5 bots, leaving so much empty space.

Initially, I bought some 7200 1 TB HDDs. Since then, each machine I build, I purchase a small 100-250gb HDD @ 7200 for a cheap price. I have them seperated because I noticed some slight performance issues when I would reach 7-8 bots on a HDD (not sure why). Since I run 10 bots per machine and I was loading 2 HDDs, I figured I'd run 5 bots per HDD :).

Hmm ok. Yah that's the part I'm trying to figure out, where and why that performance degradation is coming from. I'm running the 6 off the one spinner, plus if I open up my mule....it just starts lagging my everything. OS and all other stuff is ran off 4 ssds on raid 0 but just having the slave spinner running the bots starts mucking up everything for me. I wish I could explain why exactly, since people are saying it's pretty much all offloaded to ram, but I'm definitely finding a correlation to the lag and each additional bot I put on the spinner
