Hello guys and girls. I've been botting HC for about a month now and three dead crusaders so far (lvl 70) but a lot of nice gear have been looted and in many ways it seems to be worth it with 2x Thunderfury, 1x Shard of Hate, 2x Odin Son, 2x Fulminator, 1x Cindercoat, 3x Soj and a lot more!

But i was wondering if anyone had any advice about the HC botting so i can avoid so many dead crusaders because im getting low in gear for a new one now. I've been using "Captain American" build for the bot because of the long range and had a goal on 10mil toughness with about 400-500k dmg before i went T1. The two first crusaders died because i got ballsy but the last i guess was quite unlucky to meet a hardcore pack. I've been using Templar as my follower but would you recommend one of the two others? How much toughness would you recommend? Spec? Class? (my mains are mostly barb and crusader so like to have a str character for bot and most a crusader because i dream of Gyrfalcon) Any advice of anything from where to go, which difficulty, and so on.

Happy botting guys! <3

xoxo

I'm botting HC for a week now. The reason why I started botting: my WD hit level 100 paragon by himself (first HC char, never died) and I was STILL USING A GODDAMN RARE WEAPON. I couldn't stand it anymore so I started botting ghom. I was okish geared, I could run ghom on T2 easily and T3 a bit slower. My advice is

1) Make sure a ghom run doesn't take over 20 seconds. Applies to most of the classes since most powerful skills last around ~20 sec. If the run takes more than 20 seconds, it will take even more since your top skills timed out.

2) Try to ensure that runs do not require any health potions. If they do, it means you are lacking toughness. Templar is pretty good to heal you, so I recommend it. I am not saying that if the bot uses a pot in a run then you should instantly lower difficulty, what matters is how frequently and at what point he does. Example: you're fighting ghom and after ghom is at 75% hp you drink your first pots. This means that with some bad luck, he could get you to the point where you again need a potion, but this time you'd die.

3) Respec all skills for that boss fight. In my opinion, WD and Barb are the top botting classes (and top classes in the entire game as well). Here is an example of my WD skills:
Witch Doctor - Game Guide - Diablo III

4) Start getting gears / paragon levels, and increase difficulty as you progress: make sure to go with useful stats. Example, %elemental damage to certain element and try to make most of your skills use that element. %Elite stats are also godly, that's why I recommend using 2 aughild pieces with Grandeur ring. Botting ghom will flood you with gold / legs so make sure to upgrade your gear/gems kindly. I usually like to increase difficulty after I get a key item (like Mask of Jeram for WD).

Right now I'm safely doing T4 ghom with my WD. I feel I could push it higher but atm each run takes around 10 sec. To push from T4 to T6, specially in HC, takes a lot more effort/resources on your character and it might not be worth it in the end. I don't want to waste 100 forgotten souls for a little boost. If I get more key items like, Task and Theo, the amulet that makes you immune to ghom farts (Mara's? I dont remember) then I could probably push it to T5 safely.

My skill plan is the one I mentioned before, I'm at 1,2m damage in-game, without counting Big Bad Vodoo. 10m toughness. Many stats that aren't visible like, %elite dmg, %DR vs elites, %pet damage, etc.
I put my paragon points into FRW, because half of the ghom run is reaching the room. I also have 100% magic find.

These are the stats for 1 hour T4 ghom farming:

tl;dr make barb or wd. DH is pretty neat botting class but I feel it doesn't suit HC. I personally do bot with DH, but for normal bounties (since the character is also the fastest)

I've got pretty much barb gear but as melee aint it easier to die than a ranged? I think WD is the best with pet-ish build as you go but crusader is awesome imo with the ranged they got from shield throw. Have you botted barb? How do they manage big packs? What should i focus on as barb when i need to build gear thats bot-able?

I don't feel ranged crusader isn't going to cut it, I haven't played that class but I feel like the UFO skill will not deliver nearly enough damage

As for barb, there are sick gear/skills combinations, considering it's probably the most botted class, u should take a look into other threads with skill plans etc.
Don't know about their tankiness, but I belive they are the best T6 botting class, since many skills are overpowered towards single targets

Im just aiming for a T1 rift bot :-)

Is it easy to get enough gear for a barb to go T1?
