Hi guys, I know you dont give support for mac users but I really need a helping hand. I exactly followed this very good guide, following it step by step. As stated on this guide I've been trying to run HB installed on my virtual machine using my wow mac client as usual but it always stuck on its first screen like this:
You have not selected a valid instance of WoW to attach to!
Please restart Honorbuddy and choose a valid instance of WoW to use Honorbuddy with!
This version of Honorbuddy only supports WoW Build #16826
You are currently on build #0

so my question is, is it really possible to run HB on VMWARE trying to connect it to my mac wow client or do I HAVE to install wow on wmware too.... I know it would work in this case, already tried and worked well but it is impossible to play due to a ferocious lag so I really would like to understand if I am trying to pursue a correct issue or am I trying to do something completely impossible?

Thank you very much in advance!
Alexandra

EDIT: added log file i forgot before, sry

you must log in game world before running Hb

thank you for your replies guys.
In step, that's what i do:
- launch my MAC 32bit wow client
- log in game world with my main char
- launch HB (not from my mac as I did with wow) beneath my VMWARE environment, and start it as admin.
- doesn't work, it says:
You have not selected a valid instance of WoW to attach to!
Please restart Honorbuddy and choose a valid instance of WoW to use Honorbuddy with!

You are currently on build #0

So here's my question: is it possible to start (MAC!!!!) wow client and then attach it a WMWARE HB session or do I have to to install wow directly on VMWARE??
of course, I know the second way would work but it is literally unplayable because of lag...

I already know I can make it work, both on VMWARE and PARALLELS installing a proper WOW instance under those environments.
I'd like to know if I can attach a HB instance (under VMWARE is preferable) to a wow MAC session....
And in this case try to understand why it doesn't work then.

Thanks a lot.
Alexandra

you have to install wow on vm

Hi Alexstarsza,

Tony is spot on with this. One of the design goals of VMware is to provide an isolated (or sandboxed) environment. If your run HB in the sandbox, you must run the WoWclient there, also.

sorry to figure out that on this guide, point n. 31 states completely the opposite or at least can lead to huge misunderstanding ... lost 3 days of work but nvm.
Ty all for support
