Hack or Random lucky whisper?

I was happily botting this morning using kick's profile. LogMeOut alerted me to the fact I got a whisper from a GM and started the logout process. I quickly stopped the bot and stopped the logout to investigate. At first, it appeared I had been whispered by a GM, but the more I read the more I became suspicious. Here is the contents of the message (all typos are part of the original message)...

"[Blizzardz] whispers: [Blizzard Game Master]GM:Hello dear players, the system checkout out that you're using unknown plug-in board. please Access http://xxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx to verify your account information.Otherwise ,we will suspend your account.Don't reply this email."

I left the address out since it is obviously a hack site.

At first I sh!t my pants, then realized after about 30 sec it was bogus. I guess I only believed it at first because I was actually botting at the time. Now I am curious though...was this just some random whisper or maybe someone has a hack that targets botters. Could my pc be compromised? Anyone else ever get something like this?

Also, why did LogMeOut actually start to log me out? How does it tell if it's a whisper from a GM? Does it look for 'Blizzard Game Master' as the sender?
 
GM's don't actually whisper you. You end up getting a pop up sort of thing saying that a GM would like to chat with you. When you click it you get an actual chat window that you talk to the GM in. What you got was a spammer looking to take your account info. GMs never ask for your info, they already have it.
 
Depending if you have addons it will be on the left hand corner of your screen, black box with blue writing. that states A Gm wants to talk to you. Then only after you click on it they will start the convo.
 
I think it was just a lucky whisper. as for logmeout, i think it looks for Game Master because if you would get a real game master message. it would say Game Master "Name" wants to speak with you. so im guessing since it detected a message, and seen "Game Master" somewhere in it. it loged out to be safe.
 
I got one of these earlier, just logged on no bot running or anything, so I sent him a message back saying if you want my account you got to work harder :) could of made it more convincing if it hadn't of been a .tk domain too :)
 
Well, touche to the spammer then. He had me going completely for about 25 seconds. I turned to my GF and said..."F*ck, i'm getting banned", before realizing it was BS.
