An account I purchased from a member on this forum about 6-10 months ago (name withheld) appears to have reclaimed his account and stolen over 250 thousand gold and a full guild bank of goods! He was in a dire financial situation and I did this as favour to him at the time.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has had success retreiving gold and goods that have been stolen from your guild bank. I've seen a couple of posts on the WoW forums that indicate its the responsibility of the guild leader to secure access and as such Blizzard / GMs have been unable to return the items.

EDIT: Make that TWO guilds that have been emptied now!

The account in question had an authenticator on it, and had not been used in 2-3 months. In the last 21 hours numerous characters have withdrawn the maximum daily gold limited.

Not sure on if they can/would help.

But honestly, what a *****!!!!!

Have you spoke to the member? I would make him give it back or out him as the scammer he is.

Good luck in getting it all back

Blizzard takes Guild Bank withdraw's seriously now, open a ticket explainining that, and they should take it all back and deposit in the bguild bank

If you still retain the Guild Master account, all will be restored. The backed account is gone forever though.

Fortunately the guild master account is (one of) my main. I've submitted a ticket but I don't expect to hear anything for a few days.

This is where the name and shame policies on the HB forums should be reversed for special circumstances, especially at the risk of it happening to someone else.

i told you not to trade on the forums :(

It wasn't so much a forum trade, as it was an MSN trade. It just happened to be with someone who is a member of the forums :)

EDIT: A life lesson. The reason to never buy accounts - even a year later they can be claimed back.

I buy accounts on ebay, and it happens often that they get taken back, but then again i have the users full name, and where he lives. I have his bank information and all i need is to write him an message over ebay that if i dont get that account with my 100s of K gold, he will soon hear from the police and my lawyer - accounts get back to me within 1 day.

These which dont .. they pay double the cost with lawyer and police included. If you buy an account, make sure you pay to an bank account, i assume there are few US citizen which have such an technological improved payment option __P

Has it ever been the case that you actually had to call the police and your lawyer? Being that accounts are virtually Blizzard's propery IIRC?

virtual goods belong to you in germany, so yes i had to call em for at least 10 times,

it ends even before going to court, either they pay me back:

account price + gametime card + my time spend on doing the professions + the gold which was on the account + the lawyers cost ( very modearate 40-50 eur per case )

or they simply give me the account back after i contacted the police and before called my lawyer

no one ever tried to get to the court

Really? It looks like as if they say "i don't care if you bot, just don't sell golds ok my kid?"

if he is a member of HB he should be banned thats why i never buy accounts from other people i just buy them in store:)
