[Guide] Bot "safe" - hide IP and change hardware ID.

Just to say, I've just got one account back (out of two, other still no reply) =) EU btw

A VM will spoof it, atleast VMware, as it creates a virtual network adapter. Try yourself: open CMD and then "ipconfig /all" and see the physical address. Also, Blizzard can see your MAC address by sending the data over to their servers.

That is what he means by local, your router / switch will still tag all traffic with the ROUTERS HARDCODED mac address

Fair enough, I wonder if Blizzard will check the router's MAC..

seems like dd-wrt (if your router can run it) allows for a change of MAC address, but can't remember. good posts here for the paranoid.

my only question was, have you ever gotten suspended when first logging in from the proxied account? i have logged in from the opposite coast of the USA and gotten auto-suspended due to the IP change....

This is standard nowadays, if you change countries within short time of your last login your account will be suspended due to suspicious activity, and you'll need to reset the password through a link sent to your email. This is really no problem as you can pretend your email was hacked too. But make sure you reset the password with the proxy, VM, MAC changer and what not turned on, and obviously don't log your account anywhere except at this computer.

Anybody know if there's freeware comparable to pingbuster? Any tips would be much apreciated :)

I don't think they take the SID or GUID cause it's Microsoft Windows specific.
Or I'm wrong?
Mac user can play wow, too :P

If you use pingbuster, isn't there a good chance you'll share an IP with another botter? Or that someone's already been previously banned on that same IP? I'm sure they have a decent pool of IP addresses and all, but still.

You can also run through openvpn on a cheapo VPS for like $2 a month. You could also use this server for other stuff.

but what if blizzard assumes the ip is indeed just the ip you play on since you bot over a period of 1 month cant they just assume youve moved and just stick with the ban?

You can easily say that you were on a road trip, and didn't play any WoW.

For those who want to try it for 10 extra days, use this time code: 10-F7A17048A3-D764236D83 (it has multiple uses).

Where is the sense. If Blizzard locks your account its locked. Even if you tell them its stolen etc. They look in your log - see your behavior for longer time and thats it.
So the best protection is. Botting with Brain.........
cheers,

I have two accounts, a main one and a bot one. My they both have the same last name but diffrent first name. I plan on xfering the fresh 85 onto my main account. After that I plan on cancleing the bot account, setting up a proxy in a few weeks, then bot to my hearts content. Right now, I am paying with the same credit card once I do this ill be using game cards. I have two PCs and my main account has only ever been on my bot free pc. I am trying to avoid getting my main account band. Anyone have any reccomendations on how to avoid having this happen? I think its just paranoia, my wifes account was banned and my bot account was safe. Both being paid for on the same cc hell even on the same pc. During a ban wave, 09, I lost 2/3 bot accounts. One main account, this account was ran with a bot going in the background. So as long as my main account is never on my bot PC. Is having them be on diffrent payment methods a real concern or is it only easing my insanity? Anyone know of someone not botting, yet getting hit in the banhammers crossfire?

Yes, it could be. Although you should buy gamecards from OffGamers for example (you can pay with CC and it's instantly send) so Blizzard cannot make a link between those accounts. Now bot in a VM and use a proxy to change your IP and you should be well safe.
