So, one of my inactive alternate accounts got hacked today, I noticed when it announced through RealID that one of my accounts was online, on a level 1 character, which I thought was odd, because I hadn't renewed the subscription for the account.

Immediately, I logged into battle.net and changed my password, etc., and happened to notice that my subscription had been renewed for another 30 days. So I now have an army of level 1's, and one of them (on the server I play on) with 5k on her, granted its not a lot, but hey, I didn't have to 'work' for it. Thank you gold-sellers!

Has anyone else run into situations like this?

i hope for your sake its not a stolen creditcard, since then you can get in deeepshit.

hopefully its not, and you just made 30days sub and some gold ;)

Your account probably got farmed by gold sellers. Was probably about to be a gold seller. Hopefully they havnt been selling gold before you realized and end up getting the banhammer.

Yes, when your account gets locked for compromising accounts you get a free month when you get it back.. I did this many of times, actually had a 4 vanillas get "compromised" before running out, got them unlocked (waited like 2 days) and got free months on all of them..

doesnt always work, but tahts why I wait 2days

The account wasn't locked. RealID had said previously that the account hadn't been logged in for ~ 2 months, and while I was online, I saw the message saying "X has come online" and it was some character I didn't recognize. At that point, I immediately went onto battle.net and changed the password (hadn't been changed by a 3rd party). They only had access to the account for ~ 5 minutes, which apparently was enough time to create a lvl 1, pick up mail (5k gold), and get to the entrance of stormwind.

So, I logged back on this evening, and the game time was retracted... And I hadn't reported the account as hacked. Maybe its just me, but I don't see this scenario playing out well:
PHP:
Gold-seller: "Hey, I just hacked somebody's account to sell gold off of, and re-activated the account for 30 days."
CS Rep: "Ok, and what seems to be the problem?"
Gold-seller: "Well, a few minutes after I gained access to said account, the owner changed the password and locked me out of it."
CS Rep: "And what are you wanting to do about this?"
Gold-seller: "Oh, I don't know. I can't really just ask for you to give me access to the account again can I?"
CS Rep: "I don't see that as being a possibility, no."
Gold-seller: "Thought so... Can I at least get the time-code retracted and re-imbursed so I can use it on some other inactive account?"
CS Rep: "I will start the proccess immediately, you will receive the code in your email shortly."
Kinda irritates me, but w/e...

Yeah I had someone hack one of my accounts awhile back. I got it back and the two months down the road they did a charge back and it locked my account. Took a lot of time for blizz to resolve it.
